We got done with breakfast and he drove me to the hospital.

"I have to go" I said smiling

"Yeah. You do that" he smiled

I quickly left his car and walked into the hospital. I went to the locker room and changed into my scrubs. I went with Bailey and all the interns.

"Bailey can I grab one of your interns" he asked

"Go ahead Shepherd" she said

"Grey" he said

I nodded and walked with him.

"So I have a rare peritoneal tumor case and it's a good advanced start for you. I can tell you don't like the easy stuff" he smiled

"Yes Dr. Shepherd" I said

We walked to the patient.

"Dr. Shepherd" the patient smiled

Derek held his hand out.

"Jackson it's been awhile" Derek said fist bumping Jackson

"Yeah it had. This wasn't how I wanted to see you again" Jackson smiled

"Me neither phew this sucks" Derek said

I cleared my throat and Derek looked at me. He smiled and handed me the chart.

"Dr. Grey pre-sent" he said

I looked at the chart.

"Jackson Goldberg, 21, peritoneal tumor invading the cerebral artery" I said

Derek grabbed the CT scans from behind him.

"How long were your last CT scans" Derek asked the patient

"2 weeks ago" he said

"Ok Grey go get some new CT scans" he said

"Yes Dr. Shepherd" I said

I walked down to CT and made an appointment. They could get him in, in about 30 minutes. I walked back up to the patient and nurses were getting him prepped for CT. Derek was at the nurses station working on pre ops.

"30 minutes until we can get him to CT" I said

"Alright that sounds perfect" he said

"Ok here look at this" he said showing me the charts

I looked down. It wasn't charts. He was drawing a diagram.

"We will go to the research lab after the CT. This is what we should start doing at first. I will pull the diagram up and we will practice, but learn this. I'm almost positive this will work" he said

"Ok" I said grabbing the cart.

I looked at the diagram he drew. I took in the picture until 30 minutes approached. I walked down to CT with Jackson, who was in a wheelchair. The interns left and I walked jackson over to CT. He got in. I went to Derek who was in the observing room. I sat next to him.

"So how are you liking your intern year" he asked as we waited for the scans to show up

"I mean. It could be better" I laughed

"Trust me it gets harder, but after this it gets way easier. It's like a habit" he smiled

"You won't be able to live a day without surgery" he laughed

"Oh wow" I said pointing to his scans that just popped up

"We have to get him to the OR immediately. The tumors about to paralyze him from neck down" he said
