"Meredith, hi" Matt smiled "Hi grace"

"Daddy!" Grace giggled as Meredkth held her in her arms

"Do I have to take her?" He asked and Meredith handed him their daughter "What are you doing here anyway and why isn't she in daycare?" Matt asked

"She wanted to go see daddy" Meredith smiled softly as she and Matt walked through the ER

"Did you?" Matt smiled at his daughter in his arms

"And your other daughter missed daddy too" Meredith had to remind him constantly about the baby in her belly

"Yeah" He sighed

Meredith went quiet and followed Matt through the hallways as they heard people yelling at each other

"You idiot!" The one man yelled and started pushing the other

"Watch out!" One of the nurses yelled but it was too late. One of the men pushed Meredith against a tray of instruments, causing her to fall on the ground

"Doctor Grey" Addison Montgomery gasped and went over to help her

"Ahh" Meredith groaned in pain as she couldn't get herself to sit up

"Mommy?" Grace started crying out from her spot in Matt's arms. Her husband barely moved and she had all respect for his reaction but she needed him now

"Mommy?" Grace shook her awake

"Hey Gracie. Did you play a bit?" Meredith pushed herself up as she wiped her tears away

"Yeah mommy. Are you doing okay?" Grace asked as she started playing with Meredith's hair

"I- yeah" Meredith breathed

"It will be better soon" Grace smiled and gently kissed Meredith's shoulder

"When did you turn 40?" Meredith laughed softly "Come here baby" Meredith opened her arm and Grace cuddled into it

"I love you mommy" Grace whispered

"I love you too Gracie" Meredith softly smiled but that quickly changed as she heard the door opening

The two of them were looking at the door as they were curious to see in what mood Matt would be

"Meredith?" They heard his voice

"Yeah?" Meredith quickly jumped up and limped closer to him

"I'm hungry" He stated and walked to the kitchen to grab a beer

"I'll go heat it up" Meredith quietly said

"Food out of a box, again?" Matt scoffed

"No- freshmade, I just- It was frozen" She stuttered. She couldn't say Dr Shepherd- Derek had brought them food

"Okay" He replied as he opened his beer and started drinking

"Can I help you?" Grace quietly asked Meredith

"Of course honey" Meredith softly smiled and grabbed the box to defrost it

"Mommy, why can't daddy make the food?" Grace asked as Meredith was struggling with only one arm

"Gracie, it's okay" Meredith softly said as she finally got the food into the box

...

Meredith sighed as she was cleaning up all the plates. She barely ate anything as she had a hard time cutting her food. Matt never tried to help her and seemed to enjoy her struggling

"Mommy, can I help you?" Grace offered

"It's okay baby" Meredith opened the dishwasher

"I can help" Grace sternly said and took the first plate

"Thank you Gracie" Meredith's voice cracked

The two of them finished filling the dishwasher as Meredith's phone started ringing

"Hey Mer, you and Grace doing okay?" Alex' voice was heard through the phone

"Hi, yeah we're okay" Meredith softly replied as she didn't want Matt to hear her calling with someone

"Mommy, who's on the phone?" Grace gasped

"Shh" Meredith shushed

"Who're you calling with?" Matt walked in, already slightly drunk from the beers he had since he came home

"Oh, it's Alex" She shakily replied

"Mer? Are you okay?" She hard Alex' voice through the phone

"Grace, go to your room, will you? Mommy and daddy need to talk" Matt looked at his daughter, his eyes dark as evil was taking over

"Daddy, don't hurt mommy" Grace panicked

"What shit have you been telling her?" He yelled at Meredith "Grace to your fucking room!"

"Don't yell at her!" Meredith gasped but was quickly hit by Matt's hand that slapped her in her face

Grace gasped and was able to grab Meredith's phone before she ran upstairs

"You're telling lies to our daughter!" Matt yelled as he pushed her against the wall

She winced in pain as her sore body hit the wall. Her shoulder throbbing again, her back protesting as he kept pushing her against the wall

"Matt, please" Meredith cried in pain "Please don't" She sobbed

"Keep your fucking mouth shut" He threw her on the ground and kneeled down with his knee pushing in her stomach "You're a bitch! You're a whore!" He spat in her face as she cried in pain

He pulled at her hair and pushed her head several times on the ground before he kicked her everywhere, her head, her chest, her face, her stomach,..

Meredith couldn't feel the pain anymore. She was only thinking about her daughter who was somewhere in this house and was potentially in danger

"Fuck off Meredith!" He kicked her again before he walked out of the house

Meredith laid there for a bit and started panicking when she heard noises of a car arriving, she was scared Matt was back and would take Grace with him. She desperately tried to push herself up but was physically unable to

"Mer? Meredith!" Alex gasped as he saw her laying on the floor, in unbearable pain. She was whimpering but didn't seem to calm down with Alex' voice

"Mommy?" Grace called out from her spot in the doorframe

Meredith tried to stop whimpering to not worry her daughter but couldn't hold it back. Her body was hurting so bad, her shoulder was killing her, her head hurted as she felt nauseous and almost threw up, still she was thinking about Grace

"Grace, I need you to be very brave for me. You need to grab your jacket and shoes, we're gonna make sure that mommy sees a good doctor" Alex said as he knew she needed general, ortho and neuro. He quickly pulled out his phone, called for an ambulance and then called Richard to make sure Matt wouldn't show up at the hospital while Meredith would be in the hospital
