"Doll, I'm home," Bucky called out as soon as he stepped inside their home.

Only the lights on the staircase and the second floor were on.

Knowing where Sapphire was, he went to their bedroom and showered first.

He changed quickly before heading out to the soft murmurs right down the hall of their house.

The door was cracked opened, and he peeked inside, seeing Sapphire on a rocking couch.

"What time will you sleep, huh, mister?" Sapphire teased the infant in her arms.

A bunch of tiny giggles responded to Sapphire.

Bucky would never get tired of seeing his family. He looked back to days where he was lost, and now he was found because of them.

"Hey," Bucky softly spoke, entering the room.

His wife snapped her head towards him with a grin, "Look, Papa's home, Sage."

The little boy erupted in giggles more before making extending his tiny arms towards his father.

"Giving Mama a hard time again, little soldier?" Bucky scooped him up, placing kisses all over the infant's face, making the boy screech in laughter.

"We literally spend the whole day rolling on the floor, but his energy is still high," Sapphire chuckled from her seat as Bucky handed their child back to her.

He bent down to place a kiss on Sapphire's forehead and nose before sitting down on the ottoman across from them, which was a footrest.

"We have to give Mama a rest, Sage," Bucky said, poking a finger on the soft tummy of the child.

Sapphire melted to the sight of Bucky being a father.

At first, he was so scared to hold him. She has never seen him hold something so delicate. He spent a good 5 minutes crying in joy once he held Sage.

"What?" Bucky tilted his head to Sapphire staring at him.

She chuckled, "Nothing. Life is funny."

Remembering those words, Bucky's smile turned into a grin, "I now have a kid with the same alien I found in Washington."

Sapphire mouthed to him, "fuck off," which made Bucky burst into laughter.

"It never gets old," He shook his head, now focusing on the baby gurgling on his tiny fist.

"Have you fed him?"

"I have," Sapphire smiled, positioning the infant on her arms again to lull him to sleep.

Bucky stood up and went to the small shelf that was filled with small books.

His eye caught a memorable one and pulled it out before sitting back to the ottoman.

"How'd you get this?" Bucky smiled, opening the first page of the book.

Sapphire had the same smile, seeing the book in his hands, "Online."

"Should we try reading to him?" Bucky asked her.

She shrugged, rocking Sage in her arms lightly, "It'll be his first bedtime story too."

Bucky took her left hand, pressing a kiss on her wedding band before clearing his throat.

"I love our time together as we start our happy day," Bucky started. "I love our bathtime silliness- the way we splash and play!"

"We'll climb the highest mountaintops, so hang on tight, and you won't fall." Bucky read the story to Sage the same way he read to her, "I love to share the magic of the shining skies above."

"And to think of all the different ways that we can share our love..." Sapphire had a soft smile listening to him, speaking animatedly, as he faced the book to Sage to show him the pictures of bears.

"Like when we're touching noses. Playing chase," he continued. "Or seeing friends... a year from now."

"Our love is always with us, and it never ever ends."

Sapphire looked down to their small boy in her arms as his lids started to droop down.

"So snuggle safely in my arms; our day is nearly done," Bucky said, looking at Sage with a soft smile.

"I love you to the moon and stars, my precious little one," Sapphire softly spoke together with Bucky as Sage finally surrendered to slumber.

His head leaned to Sapphire's chest with a small smile on his face.

"It worked," Bucky chuckled, closing the book.

They were quiet for a moment. The sound of the wind rustling the trees outside together with the soft snores of their little one filled the room.

"I love you, Doll, more than how much I say it," Bucky whispered, adoration gleaming in his eyes.

There is not a single day where he says his gratitude to whoever is out there for bringing Sapphire to him.

Sapphire and Sage.

"I love you too," She replied quietly before caressing the chubby cheeks of their son. "Sage does too."

Sapphire carefully stood up and placed Sage in his crib. He was sleeping softly.

Bucky turned on the baby monitor as well as a night light with the soft tunes of a marching band. Then, he tucked Sage in before placing the white wolf stuff toy beside him, which Sage grasped immediately.

They both made their way to their room and lay on the bed. Sapphire's head was against Bucky's bare chest with one arm wrapped around her.

"It was like yesterday you were telling me your water just broke," Bucky chuckled at the memory.

"I think my water just broke," Sapphire spoke out of nowhere.

Bucky immediately sat up straight from laying on Sapphire's lap, talking to her womb.

"Are you for real?" Bucky entered a state of panic. "Saf, there's a storm outside."

As if on cue, a struck of lightning happened, and the sounds of thunder echoed.

"Well, what do you want me to do? Suck him back inside?!" She hissed at him.

They drove in the middle of the night on their birthday to the hospital while there was a storm.

"You were so stressed," Sapphire laughed quietly at the memory of her in bed while waiting for her to be fully dilated.

"Okay, breathe, baby. Breathe," Bucky kept repeating beside her on the bed.

Sapphire lightly laughed at him before wincing because of a contraction, "I think it's you who needs to breathe."

And of course, Sam wouldn't miss it for the world. He flew using his suit to the hospital even though it was raining.

"Are you okay?!" Sam barged into their hospital room.

"I'm fine," Sapphire gritted at the discomfort but stared at Sam, who rounded her bed going to her husband.

"I know, Monkey. You're the strongest," Sam spoke to her before clutching on Bucky's shoulder. "I'm asking him."

Bucky scoffed, "Everyone would think that Sam was your husband with the way he was panicking outside the delivery room. The nurses told me."

Sapphire laughed and placed her chin on top of his chest to look up at him, whispering, "You make me really happy. You and Sage."

"Glad to know I'm doing my job right," Bucky smiled, placing a kiss on top of her forehead, then on her nose before pecking her lips softly.

"And just so you know, you make me really happy too, Mrs. Barnes."
