Hidden in the Sewers: XVI

"Just stay calm." Asher said.

The party scattered. As an array of arrows slung towards them Markos moved further forward a few steps until he was in the circular rooms inner portions. To his right was a metallic slit where arrows flew from. Markos thrusted his trident through the hole, behind them beady red eyes stared back in surprise at his boldness he felt his trident make contact with those very eyes as a fresh slick stab ended them. Markos heard a sound from behind as he was shot in his back.

"OW!" Markos yelled out in pain. "Fucking non-believers!" He turned around to face the attacker. But he saw the remaining party members standing behind him as they went after the other arrow slit.

"I got you!" He looked over to Riu who had straggled behind, a third arrow slit behind the column Markos was beside housed another shooter, one he could only assume was Orc due to the language. Riu turned to the voice.

"W-wait can't we uh... talk about this sir?" Riu's voice dropped into a panicked sultry one. 'Really?' Markos thought to himself. As the voices in his head started to pound Markos watched an arrow fly out and hit Riu in the chest of her scale mail. "O-ow!" Riu raised her mace and spoke a few words in an otherworldly language. "Thlolcol flamma scel!"

"Wait! Riu no fir-" Alekzandr yelled at the top of his lungs as Riu fired a spell from her mace, instantly five splitting white pillars shot out of her mace colliding with the wall housing the attacker. Markos covered his ears as the explosion rang throughout the sewer halls.

"I got him!" Riu yelled proudly. "Oh he'd be so proud.." The entire party stared at her angrily.

"Well.. if they didn't know we were here before.. They do now.." Alekzandr said solemnly.

'We should just eat one of the orcs!' What? He hated the voices.

"Yellow signs." Markos said, breathing heavily. "Let's just follow them." He stepped forward sounding far more confident than normal for him. "Come on, Whore non-believer." He said to Riu, still not over, that she attempted to seduce an attacker mid battle. He wasn't having any of the current situation. Shot in the back while he tried to be civil? Terrible! The day so far had been a blood pumping adventure but Markos was still weary of what was to come, afterall he had been hearing voices. Voices of something powerful.

"You good? Markos?" Herod walked over to him reaching to his back, Markos's eyes flashed as he involuntarily flinched.

"I'm fine!" He moved away looking back to the corridor. "I think we should go that way non-believers" He tried to place on a childish tone, his voice would convince them he was ready for another fight. 'The sewers probably house more things like what we just saw.. All of it out to kill us.' He thought to himself. As Asher took the lead the yellow signs quickly stopped at a wooden rackety stairwell clearly added after the sewers were built.

"That's pretty simple." Asher commented as he ascended the steps.

'It's up there.. waiting' Markos clenched his eyes begging that voice of any to disappear, to go away! He writhed in light pain and his head felt like it had been split open.

"Don-" Markos tried to warn Asher and the rest but as they ascended the steps a sudden blood curdling scream echoed in the halls, the party dropped to their knees. The noise sounded deafening and much like the screams of a distant town you would be unsure whether they were screams of terror from some ungodly monster, or the screams of joy after a recent victory. Markos looked around and realized he was far less affected compared to his allies. The noise was loud, yes, but to respond this way?
