It was inevitable

That you would seek me out

Knowing it didn't matter how hard I tried

For it still ended up the same

It was Groundhog Day

It began at the fairground

Without explanation, you touched my hand

No one noticed but me

You were very careful

It was to be a secret between you and me

To me, you were barely a child

I gave you a cheeky smile

Passed you my half-eaten candy floss

Before disappearing into the crowd

I'll always remember that day

To me, it never began, so it was never over

But for you it was different

It was sugar-coated candy

The spark of love was sown

And it would never go out

I swear, I never knew it was you

But I couldn't resist your beautiful lips

It was destiny that we shared our first kiss

Under a sprig of mistletoe

Hung from an old candy floss stick
