Love isn't always explicit. You don't always have to say the three magic words. You can show your feelings through little gestures and things.
Lin regretted when she didn't say the three words: I love you.
It wasn't her life that flashed before her eyes as she watched the wall explode; it was Fred's. Her soulmate, the love of her life.
"PROTEGO"
The broken rocks and debris magically bounced off an invisible field about Fred, leaving him untouched. Lin hadn't cast the spell though — frozen in place as she was.
Percy stood beside her a few feet away, wand raised and eyes wide. Fred who had instinctively covered himself with his hands, looked up and peered at his older brother and Lin.
The explosion already settled and Percy let go of the charm. Lin slowly walked over to Fred. Afraid of what, she wasn't even aware herself. "Fred?"
'Are you okay?' seemed so irrelevant in this moment, so neither party bothered. Ignoring the call, Fred instinctively pulled Lin into a hug. It'd been too long since they'd had a moment together.
"I love you, Fred." Lin whispered so only he could hear.
"I love you, too."
