I fiddled nervously with my fingers as I spun around in the mirror. With my self-confidence at an all-time low, I really wasn't sure how I felt.

Having a camera shoved in my face now at every turn while being asked ridiculous questions, and then coming home to see such malicious and hurtful messages was not good for my mental health.

I was keeping it together for the girls, but every time I had a second alone with Seokjin, it took a lot of willpower to not break down.

But tonight was major because tonight was the gala. Something that we had been planning for months now.

What was it with me and having dramas at all sorts of business parties?

But anyway, as much as I'd rather stay home, seeing that I organized it, I was unfortunately in charge again.

My mom was happy to watch the girls again. I really owe her like a spa coupon or something. I don't think my kids love anyone as much as they love my mom.

"Hey beautiful~" Seokjin's deep voice almost made me melt.

He wrapped his arms around my waist, pulling me into him. He gently kissed my shoulder making me shudder.

"We really need to go out on a date night. Just you and me and the open night air," he hummed.

"Mm I'd like that. Once all this stuff has settled down," I agreed.

"I'll grant you whatever you want. But until then...we've just got to get through this. Which we will. This is something above us. A good cause might just inspire people to come together," he reasoned.

"I hope so. These charities deserve it. And I'd feel awful if we didn't reach our goal because of me," I frowned.

"Hey, you know it's not your fault. And anyone who tells you otherwise can talk to me personally," his deep voice rang in my ears like a blessing from heaven.

He led me out, taking my hand in his. It was almost like he, the king, was leading me, the queen out of the kingdom.

Despite all that had been going on, he never lost that aura of elegance about him. Despite all the stress and drama, he always presented himself formally in public.

It was a true talent that I sincerely applauded him for.

Driver Son was waiting for us outside. Thankfully, Seokjin's security detail had done their job well, and they had even offered to watch over our place in case.

So it had cleared up, even though now our address had been plastered on the internet. Though Seokjin had also taken care of that in making sure it had gotten off quickly.

And as sucky as it was, we were looking into places to move. Just for the safety of the girls, it was better to get away from a place where people could be lurking at any corner and moment.

The night air was fresh and bustling, filled with the sights and smells of people of all demographics enjoying their time out in the world. It was something I could never easily get tired of. It was refreshing. Being out in the world doing all that your ambitions desired.

I liked my quiet life, but I couldn't help but remember the bustling days I'd had as a young adult.

The venue was already raging by the time we had arrived with several people at the valet and even more chatting inside.

I stuck close to Seokjin, avoiding eye contact with any of the flashing cameras. He protectively put an arm around me, brushing past the still nosy reporters.

At least inside, there were way fewer cameras, mainly just focusing on the main event for the televised livestream.

Many of the guests had already arrived, and as we walked past, I couldn't help but notice their stares. Some friendly, and others judgmental.
