(JUNG TURNS TO THE AUDIENCE IN THE SPOTLIGHT AGAIN)
CARL
Here I was on a ship in the middle of the ocean....
(THERE IS AN URGENT KNOCK ON THE DOOR)
Not now! I'm narrating!
MINNA
CARL! It's me.
CARL
(HE OPENS THE DOOR)
Yes Martha, Minna. Whoever you are.
(TO THE AUDIENCE)
Sorry my memory is running away with me. I'm starting to get confused.
MINNA
Dr. Jung! I need to speak to you urgently.
CARL
Oh I hate this part.
MINNA
Dr. Jung I have to confess something to you.
CARL
Well then please sit down in the confessional booth.
MINNA
It's not a joke, Herr Doctor. Something terrible has happened.
CARL
What is it?
MINNA
Oh!
(SHE COLLAPSES ONTO THE SOFA)
I've been throwing up all morning.
CARL
Seasickness!
MINNA
No.
CARL
River blindness!
MINNA
No.
CARL
Female hysteria?
MINNA
Could be? Would you like to help me with that Herr Doctor?
(SHE RUBS HER LEG ON HIM)
CARL
I am sure Dr. Freud has a hysteria machine around here somewhere. What are your other symptoms?
MINNA
The symptom of a missing menstrual cycle.
CARL
Guinea worm disease!
MINNA
Let's be serious Dr. Jung.
CARL
(HE TAKES OFF HIS GLASSES AND RUBS HIS EYES)
Oh dear Lord. Does Sigmund know?
MINNA
No.
CARL
(SURPRISED)
Really? You didn't tell him?
MINNA
No I didn't.
CARL
That's fascinating!
MINNA
Fascinating? My life is falling apart and it's fascinating?
