An Empty Shell

Traversing the echoes of time, stop to pause

Reliving your tortured thoughts and wicked flaws

Defaming egos and dreams has given thought

Stretching excess of pain you wrought

Standard words hang on frames of no worth

The noose of strangled convictions hangs loose on your girth

Stone acid reflects bitter hearts’ desecration

Twanging screeches hail mighty to death’s elevation

Sorrow has no taste for jealousy here

Joy’s loss and deceased love seem even more near

Wicked ones breathe anxious fogs in living

Their uttered promises bestow of tattered giving

Swollen fears gnaw flesh in dreadful volumes

As charred dreams are thrown to rest in their tombs

Icy frowns burrow deep in skin as unease

Denying cordial friends from speaking pleas

Zest couldn't cease a castle filled with spite to the rafter

Start the termination of delight so pitifully sought after

Recalls of previous failure turn stone men to ragged dolls

Emptily awaiting a kingdom’s constructional walls

Heartily sweet welcomes will never have sight

As ingrown logic harshly gives its spite

Wane and fade the days of begotten fame

Poised in rotting entrails of your forgotten name

A decent person’s love not immortal in hell

A soul’s sickly form shows an empty shell
