Evangeline stretched her arms above her and yawned quietly. Sunday morning, she practically forced Leonardo to drop her off back to school and he did exactly that. He had tried making small talk with her, however, Evangeline was avoiding him in a way. She was too embarrassed to talk to him after that whole ordeal.

Elizabeth plopped down onto her bed, patting her shoulders like she was a little bird. "Come on, Eva! You've been sleeping all day yesterday, I think you can tell me now," she squealed, impatiently. Evangeline stared at her with her brows furrowed, then remembered how much Elizabeth had pestered her to explain what happened last week.

"It-It... There was a family emergency," she sighed. Elizabeth wiggled her eyebrows, doing a little shimmy dance. "Uh-huh, and Jessica saw you leaving in Mr. Garza's car one night," Elizabeth giggled as she tied her purple hair in a messy bun.

Evangeline face-palmed herself mentally and began thinking of a liable excuse. "Oh um, he- he just wanted to uh- have dinner with me?" she babbled, chuckling nervously.

Elizabeth gasped before a cheeky smile appeared on her lips, "Oh! So it was true?! Oh my God, Eva! Tell me, did you guys do anything?" she shrieked, her mink brown eyes boring into Evangeline's.

Evangeline tensed and pursed her lips together, "N-No, I left and stayed over um, my ma's," she sighed, pulling the blanket off her. Elizabeth frowned, murmuring something along the lines of, "I believe that."

Evangeline walked out of the bathroom and grabbed her backpack, realizing Eliza had already left for class. She unraveled her tied-up hair and left the room, on her way to Biology.

Once again, there was a substitute teacher and she wondered if something was wrong with Mrs. Bailey to cause her consistent absences. Taking a seat, she noticed Mia walking in with baggy and rough clothes, which was unusual since she was a fashion lover. Mia took her usual seat next to Evangeline and looked ahead, not sparing a glance towards her.

The brunette peered towards her and whispered, "Hi."

Mia turned to her, smiling briefly, and greeted her.

Not liking the small talk, Evangeline melted in her seat and spoke a bit louder, "So, um, how have you been?"

Mia shrugged, twirling the pen in her hand, and responded, "Good, I think. Just some family shit."

"W-What's wrong? I- I mean, if you feel comfortable."

Mia took her hood down, exposing her beautiful long curls and twisted her body so they were now facing each other. "I introduced Elizabeth to my parents this weekend, and well," she began "And well, they really don't like her. My father called her a bad influence because of her appearance, he doesn't even know her like that! And my mother, my god..." she sneered.

"Wh- She didn't do anything b-bad, did she?" Evangeline asked, concerned.

"No, well yes. She's blaming Elizabeth for my dropping grades and she threatened to stop paying my tuition fees if I don't break up with her," Mia continued, hate dripping off her words.

Evangeline felt pity for both of them, especially for Mia. She leaned forward, "Well, are you g-going to?"

Mia narrowed her eyes at her, and that's when the bell rang conveniently.

Evangeline fumbled into her literature class, seeing all the chairs empty except for the ones next to Courtney, the dumb, loud blonde, and the seat next to Nathan. She went for the latter and walked closer to the seat and saw Nathan with his head leaned back into his seat and his eyes closed.

Hesitantly, Evangeline slid in the seat, feeling her body become cold when she suddenly remembered the project. "N-Nathan, we d-didn't finish the play!" she whisper yelled, the tone in her voice scared and frantic.

Nathan didn't move a muscle, ignoring her completely. Mrs Chart began speaking about the work she received and Evangeline stayed still in her seat, shuffling and fiddling as she tried to get Nathan's attention to no avail.

"...And one of the best scripts I've received is 'To be heard' by Nathan and Evangeline," the teacher beamed, clapping her thick arms towards the pair. Low and unsynchronized claps began echoing across the room and Evangeline raised her eyebrow. 'To be heard?' How ironic. She was confused yet relieved, that's when she remembered the time Nathan got 'mad' at her and called her mean things.

"T-Thank you.." she said to Nathan and received nothing. She frowned, feeling tears well in her eyes as she hated being ignored by people she cared about. Even if they were mean. "N-Nathan..." she whimpered, shaking his knee with her small shaky hand.

Nathan carried on looking straight at the board, when suddenly he harshly grabbed onto her wrist and held it for far too long. Evangeline bit her bottom lip, feeling a lone tear slip. Finally, he let go and shoved her hand towards herself.

She rubbed her hands together, slightly happy that he at least acknowledged her even though it sounded pathetic. "W-why are you ignoring me... It's not n-nice," she said, looking down at her lap.

Nathan gave her a once-over and immediately looked away, not bothering to respond to her. Evangeline balled her fists, feeling like she could punch his attitude away but couldn't since Mrs. Chart had dismissed everyone.

The cold boy was the first one out and he strode outside near the soccer field, knowing the little puppy following behind him. A group of jocks were entering his vision and eager to get her away, he turned around and grabbed her neck. A breath escaped her lips as she felt her legs dangle underneath her, the sweet feeling of earth suddenly gone and replaced with the feeling of being airborne.

Nathan seethed his teeth, "What the fuck do you want?" he hissed, tightening his grip.

Words struggled to leave her mouth and Nathan put her down, "J-Just tell me- please! I-I'm sorry for whatever I did," Evangeline cried, hoping any sort of memory of her doing something unforgiving to him would pop up, but nothing, "I-I'll do a-anything!" she said, a bit too desperate.

"A-anything?" Nathan mocked, looking at her in utter disgust, "Go on a date with me as an apology and thank you, Hartz," and with that, he walked off to his team.
