When the movie is over, Sam goes back to his apartment. Joe goes to close the door and Taylor carries Joy to her bed. She tucks her body in the bed, pecking a kiss on her lips.
"Goodnight baby," She whispers planting another kiss on her cheeks and goes to the bathroom.
She keeps staring at her reflection on the mirror while brushing her teeth, questioning her decisions. Where does she go from here? She has slept with him last night, she cheated on her boyfriend, she even lied to their friends. Her desire for him is making her turn off her brain completely, which is not good at all. Still she likes every bit of it.
Few minutes later, Joe enters the bathroom as well. He stands behind her, looking at their reflection. Taylor rinses her mouth and pats her face dry with the towel, ignoring his longing stares. When she's done, Joe wraps his arms around her waist, kissing her neck. She hesitates a little bit as he does so.
"Is everything alright? You look pale."
"I'm just a little bit tired that's all," She replies not looking into his eyes.
"Okay," He lets go off her body.
Holding hands they go to the bedroom together. Taylor turns off the lights as they lay down with their daughter in between them.
"Joe," She speaks up suddenly.
"Hmmm?"
"I'm sorry."
"For what?"
"For keeping my pregnancy a secret."
...
"Trust me there were several nights when I decided to call you but...I just couldn't. I didn't have the guts to talk to you anymore."
"It's true that it hurt me a lot when I found out. But you know I can't stay mad at you."
"Really?"
"I know why you did it Taylor. I've read your letter. So I know where did that decision come from."
"My anxieties eat me up."
"I know I deal with it too. Or else I wouldn't have applied for that divorce."
"So do you forgive me?"
"Yes," His implies with a sad tone, "You gave me world's best gift."
Taylor slowly reaches for his hands to hold onto him.
"Thank you," She mumbles caressing his skin and then takes her hand back. Kissing Joy's forehead one more time, she turns around.
The next morning Taylor wakes up earlier. She gets freshen up and goes to the kitchen to make breakfast for them. While making the base for pancakes she starts thinking again. She needs to break up with Sam. She shouldn't cheat on someone. He is a good guy and he loves her genuinely. It's her fault that she can't love him back. It's not like she hasn't tried but it was just pointless. Even the tiniest bit of attachments that she had grown, flew away when Joe came back.
At the same time it's messing with her head because he's a good friend as well. He helped her so much. She can never repay his debts. Money can't repay what he did for them. From talking to the owner of bluebird to giving her an apartment free for one year, everything she has achieved in LA is all because of his support. She can't do injustice to him.
"Mommy, good morning," Joy giggles breaking the silence in the room. Taylor watches her sitting on her father's back as he walks with the support of his hands and knees.
"Daddy is an unicorn," Joy squeezes his cheeks and Taylor grins with amusement. Joe is wearing an unicorn hat. Both of them look so adorable.
"Where did you buy this new unicorn baby?" Taylor gushes playing along, making the kid giggle again.
