I woke up with a jolt

I woke up with a jolt. I was in my room. I must've fallen asleep on the way home. Isaac must have carried me to bed. I blushed and slapped both my cheeks. Keep calm, Elizabeth! I tossed the covers off and saw a glass of water on the nightstand with a folded piece of paper under it. I took a long drink and then gingerly unfolded it.

Dearest Lizbeth,

You must have been really tired last night. I hope you slept well. I left a surprise in the trunk at the foot of your bed. Wear it under what Ember sets out for you after training. No peeking until you have to put it on! I want to take you somewhere special. See you soon.

Yours, Isaac

I pouted slightly at the trunk. I was so curious as to what it was... Wear it under my clothes, he said... My face turned bright red as my thoughts went into the gutter. No, he didn't... he wouldn't! I looked back at the trunk, biting my nails nervously.

My thoughts got progressively worse, butterflies swarmed in my stomach, and my face felt like it was on fire. I slapped my cheeks once again, Snap out of it! I shook off the naughty thoughts and went to take a bath. I caught my reflection in the mirror- the tattoo was still there, shining proudly as the light hit it. The vines and flowers, making intricate patterns, emphasized my bright violet eyes.

Dad would have freaked out if he saw me right now, I chuckled sadly.

After getting ready, I hurried to my training session with Lilith, wondering what she'd say about the new addition to my face. When I stepped into Lilith's office, she was pacing deep in thought. I gently knocked on the wall. Her head whipped around, her amber eyes locking on me then widening. Her raven hair flowed in curls around her face; she was an intimidating woman. She rushed towards me, and I jumped back slightly.

"Elizabeth! I'm glad you're okay! Isaac told me what happened yesterday. Speaking of... have you seen him? I haven't seen him all morning."

I shook my head. "No, I haven't. Why?"

"He seemed off last night," She started to pace again. "Distant."

I put a hand on her shoulder, awkwardly trying to comfort her. I've never seen her so worked up. "Are you okay, Lilith?"

She stopped and seemed to finally register that I was actually here. "Oh my! Training right... I apologize." Before I could say anything else, she had already pulled up a chair and sat down, crossing her legs. "Let's start with the same spell from yesterday. Then, if you can manage to keep your magic in perfect control, we can move on to another."

I walked to the center of the room, pushing down the rising nervousness and Isaac in the back of my mind. Taking several deep breaths, I imagined a small glowing orb forming between my hands, just like last time. I willed it to develop; to become real. My aura swelled in the center of my body and moved to my hands. I felt the center of my forehead tingle slightly. Now. "Collumino."
