Weightless.

That's what I felt as a golden light engulfed me, my body tingling in response. It was warm and peaceful, a nice change from the usual nightmare. I opened my eyes and stared up at the sky. I was in a grove, the water looking so clear and the waterfall tumbling down the mountain next to a small clearing. Cool wind rustled the forest that surrounded me. I reached down to touch the water. It was like touching silk and was a refreshing temperature for a hot summer day. Where am I? I don't remember seeing anything like this in Vancouver.

I decided I would jump in. I mean, why not? Getting up off the forest floor, I stripped off my clothes. I took a deep breath and jumped into the water.

Splash! It felt better than I imagined! The coolness soothed my anxieties and muscles. I popped out and took a deep breath of clean air, slicking my hair back.

I rubbed the salty water out of my eyes and suddenly gazed into a now dark forest. What? Weird noises surrounded me as nocturnal creatures scurried about, and then it was suddenly deathly quiet. A pair of glowing yellow eyes stared at me from the dark depths, a deep growl emanating from them. I quickly swam to the other end of the now terrifyingly deep pond.

Naked and fearing for my life, I ran through the forest as the beast charged after me, its size making the ground shake with every leap. Prickly branches scraped my bare arms and legs as I ran, not looking behind me. I didn't want to see what was chasing me. Elizabeth! My name was whispered by some unknown person. I stopped in a clearing, frantically scanning the area for those yellow eyes; only darkness stared back. My lungs burned, and my body ached. What kind of dream is this?! Three cloaked figures emerged, their hands glowing, orange, violet, and green.

They were chanting in an unfamiliar language, and the sky lit up red. They gathered around me, getting closer to me, Unam mendacium. unus quaerit. Unum dormit. Their chanting became so loud it hurt my ears. I couldn't take it anymore. I ran away. Their chanting softened as I got further away, but I wasn't looking where I was going, and I tripped over a rock. I braced myself for the ground, but the impact didn't come. Instead, I continued to fall into a deep dark abyss.

I jolted awake, my heart racing. What the hell did I eat?! The sun shone through my curtains, engulfing my room in a soft glow. I looked over at the clock. It was past noon, I had to get ready for Jess's party. Yesterday must have hit me harder than I thought. My phone dinged, and I scrolled through the long stream of texts from Jess.

Jess: Party is a go! Dad had to clean up a lot in the backyard. That storm had knocked a lot of branches down. Can't wait to see you!

Jess: What are you going to wear? I love my new outfit, and mom gave me her gift early! I can't wait to show you.

Jess: Are you excited to see Isaac? ;)

Jess: Michael just got here. Are you coming early?
