Trickle down sunlight
Onto that sweetly sleeping grass
Where I lay stretched upon the slightly
Sloping hill of wondrous beginnings.
Roll on your stomach down
That bank of everlasting youth
Into a glorious ripening of tomorrows.
Each plucked from their branch, like Eden's
Fruit, I will sink my teeth in.
Sip with me that bubbling, burning
Wine and feel it wander down the path of
My throat as I drink and, in drinking it drown,
With an easy delight of knowing
Just how much I can bear to consume.
Rest with me in the twilight
Of contented dreams and a softer reality
Which only presents as a nightmare to
Sober our intoxications from a yesterday
Which we cannot fear, because it has made me so
happy.
