Temporary, it may be,
But I have known pain.
Bound my body, like an invisible creed
But I have known pain.
Twisted and broken, it may seem,
But I have known pain.
Fearful of it's haughty, spiteful, trickster gleam
But I have seen pain.
Fled far from its dripping, crooked teeth,
But I have seen pain.
Disintegrated all boundaries, it claimed,
But I have seen pain.
Battled it into its frightful corner,
I have owned pain.
Broke those teeth one, by, one,
I have owned pain.
Built walls to mock its fame-
I have owned pain.
Temporary it may be but it'll never own me.
