She had always felt the fire
Raging within her at every moment
At night it smoldered, waiting to flare in the day
She fought it hard, the hardest fight she ever had
One day she lost control and

She became an inferno, spewing flames and ash
As her outer visage melted away to reveal
The source of her power, a tiny ruby embedded in her heart
But fire was destructive and it consumed her
As pride and deceit consume all

She had always felt the waves
Soothing her at every moment
At night her sea was calm, content
She embraced her gift, welcomed it without realizing the truth
Water erodes everything, even the good in people
One day she snapped and
Let go
She became a perfect storm, powerful and unforgiving
Waves destroying everything in her path
As her outer visage melted away to reveal
The source of her power, a tiny sapphire embedded in her heart
She drowned in her own storm, perishing beneath the waves
As trusting blindly destroys the weak

She had always felt the wind
Calm and light, fast and heavy
At night, it was a breeze, cool and content
Day was a gale of frustration
She knew the risk of wind, the danger
Yet she fought to hide her power
But one day she decided to
Let go
And unleashed her power on the world,
Destroying all in her path
Until the debris hit her heart, shattering the diamond
And she too perished from her gift
As all do who crave power and receive it

She had always felt the trees
The steadyness of the forest within
At night it came alive with insects, birds
And she was happy
But trees were not dangerous, they provide life, shelter, food
When she realized this, she decided to share and
Let go
The world was filled with life and peace
Her outer visage melted away, revealing
The source of her power, a tiny emerald embedded in her heart
She walked among her creation, craving nothing
Content to be free and wild
