Meanwhile, at the temporary Mikaelson residence, the sound of typing sounded through the silence of the room, courtesy of Cami O'Connell, followed by a dramatic monologue from none-other than Klaus Mikaelson, as well as the occasional snickers from Madeline Petrova.
"They have all forsaken me. My siblings are as deceitful in disease just as my parents ever were. Accusing me of using my baby for my own gain, trusting others before their own blood." Klaus ranted as he paced the large room, a glass of bourbon in his hand. Maddie found herself sitting sidways on the single-seat, her legs drapped over the edge with a wine-glass full of apple juice in her hand.
Cami was seated at the desk, typing away on the old type-writer, a look of annoyance growing on her face as she had run out of ink...again. "Would a laptop kill you?" Cami snapped at the Original Hybrid and Maddie snorted where she sat, a hand rested over her already slightly bloated stomach.
"That typewriter was good enough for Hemingway." Klaus retaliated and Cami rolled her eyes, giving the Petrova girl an exasperated look, watching the pregnant woman laugh with the shake of her head.
"I see the resemblance. Booze and random acts of violence." Cami scoffed and Maddie raised her hand as if to interfere. "Don't forget the old age." The Petrova girl added and Cami nodded, pointing to her friend.
"Elijah and Rebekah have cut to the quick with their vicious lies about me. And all I've done is tried to win this battle of wills over Marcel's control of the quarter in order to reclaim our home." Klaus continued on, refilling his glass as Cami turned to Maddie with a look of "is this man for real?".
"Type, please!" Klaus then snapped when he heard no typing, seeing the blonde rest her head on her palms. "What's the point? You just repeat the same thing over and over again. Rebekah's out to get you. Elijah's out to get you. Is there anyone besides Maddie who isn't plotting your downfall? I doubt you trust your own reflection." Cami pointed out and Maddie shook her head.
"He doesn't. I watched him side-eye the glass cupboard once, because he saw himself in the reflection." Maddie mused and Klaus glared at her before shaking his head. "You know if the daggers weren't missing I would put one in each of their hearts. Rid myself of the burden of my siblings for a couple of centuries." The Original Hybrid slowly grinned at the thought.
"Look at you! Repeating the same destructive cycles over and over again. You are the architect of your own unhappiness." Cami scoffed and Klaus slowly grew angry at her words. "I don't remember asking for your advice." Klaus stated menacingly, walking towards the blonde only to stumble back a tiny bit at the feeling of an invisible barrier.
The man turned to Maddie with a strong glare, only for her to retaliate with a pointed look. Cami, however, didn't quite catch the exchange. "Oh, really? So of all the people in New Orleans you choose someone with a masters in psychology to record your lifestory. You're over a thousand years old. Pretty damn sure you know how to type." The blonde human snapped before sitting up with a sigh.
"The truth is: You compelled me to come here because you have no one else to talk to, and you want to be understood. Then you compel me to forget everything as soon as I leave your presence because you are too scared to trust." Cami pointed out the realistics of the situation, only for the Original Hybrid to scoff.
"I'm scared of nothing." Klaus refused and the blonde shook her head. "Which is why the only other person you fully trust is the only other person allowed to be here while you spill your deepest most personal thoughts." Cami pointed out, gesturing to the pregnant Petrova who blinked as Klaus picked up a piece of paper with some signs on it. "What is this?"
Maddie jumped up from the seat and made her way to the two, peeking over Klaus's shoulder before rolling her eyes. "I'm going to take a wild guess and go— now stick with me here— a drawing." Maddie pointed out sarcastically and Klaus shook his head as Cami rolled her eyes. "It's an ancient mystical plot I'm using to destroy you."
"That's a good one." Maddie laughed, giving the blonde a fist bump as Klaus looked at the human in distrust. "Relax, it's a tattoo design." Cami explained and Klaus huffed. "Draw on your own time." He dismissed, only for Maddie to nudge him in his side as the blonde snatched her drawing back.
"This is my time. You steal it from me!" Cami exclaimed angrily and Maddie sighed as the blonde picks up her things and leaves Klaus and Maddie behind.
The Petrova moves back, sitting on the arm of the chair she was once in. "She has a point." Maddie reluctantly points out and Klaus sighed, placing his glass down.
The sound of a phone ringing filled the space and Maddie checked her phone, seeing Isaac's contact name pop up on the screen, onlt to fill her with dreed.
"That's Isaac. I'll be back, please don't destroy anything...or kill anyone, in fact, don't move." Maddie ordered and Klaus gave her a small smile as she moved to walk out, only to pause and move back, giving the Original Hybrid a needed hug.
"We'll get through this. We're fighters, remember? It's what we do." Maddie nudged him and Klaus laughed with a silent nod, watching his best friend and honourary sister leave the room. And boy, was he glad he had met her.
