"Are you sure?" She asks him again and he nods, "It seemed like you were scared but I didn't want to ruin your sleep."
"I'm good," He replies shortly.
"So what do you want to have for lunch?"
"I'll prefer having nothing."
"I wish I could permit you that haha," She says with a straight face.
"I just don't want to eat chicken soup."
"Okay corn soup then."
"No."
"Then what?"
"Something normal. What are you having for lunch?"
"I don't know what have Wendy cooked."
"Well I want whatever she cooked for you."
"So does that mean I'll have to eat the chicken soup now?"
"Yes."
"Well well then promise me you'll eat the whole thing like a good boy."
"Only if you can eat the whole bowl of soup."
"Hah you're acting like that's a hard thing," Taylor smirks.
"You'll see."
"So what do I get if I win the challenge?"
"I'll eat chicken soup until I get back to my moderate state again if you win," Joe mumbles. But then he starts feeling anxious seeing her enthusiasm. Well she's too much competitive he shouldn't have made that promise.
Later Taylor comes to the kitchen and finds out that Wendy has made pasta which is enough for both of them. But since she made a promise to Joe she starts making the soup. She puts extra flavor in it though, considering the fact that she's not sick. A little bit of cheating is allowed. When she's done she takes both of their food in the tray and heads upstairs. Wendy smiles at this newly married couple and their enthusiasm for silly things.
However Taylor wins the challenge of course. But she must admit that it doesn't taste so good even after she put those extra flavors. On the other hand Joe couldn't even finish the pasta. He groans with irritation at this whole situation. Now he'll have to eat chicken soup for God knows how long. Taylor laughs at his poor condition but gives him a kiss on the forehead.
The rest of the few days go on like that. Their days were filled up with gentle rubs, massages, movies and chicken soup. Taylor would sometimes sing some songs for him. Her hands would soothe the ache of his burning body, her lap would be the headrest spot for him. Taylor's nursing him back to a healthy state was simple yet a cozy moment. It marked a new level to their relationship. There was trust, comfort and so much respect for each other. It became clear to her mind that it wasn't just a physical attraction. There's so much more to explore and it was just the beginning.
One week later
"Hi," Taylor says softly as she enters Joe's room. He's back to his healthy state and they decided to start the office after this weekend. She was working from home though. She was making up for his work as well.
"Hey," Joe looks up from his desk where he's working on some papers, "I have a news for you."
"What is it?" She sits down on his bed to watch a movie.
"We have a gala to attend tomorrow. Martha just informed me."
"Wasn't it supposed to be on the next month?" She frowns.
"Yeah but they had to change the date for some reasons."
"I don't even have a proper dress to wear."
"Wear your cat pajamas."
"Ha ha ha nice joke." Taylor rolls her eyes and Joe chuckles.
"Okay then let's go to shopping and buy you a dress."
"Now that sounds good. Let me get changed."
After changing herself into formal clothes, Taylor goes to his room again. Joe is in the bathroom so Taylor fixes her hair in his mirror. Suddenly his phone starts ringing and she goes to take it. She frowns noticing it's Karlie who's constantly calling him. She doesn't take the call and waits for it to die down. She frowns noticing the notifications of how many texts Karlie has sent him in the past few days. She puts the phone down abruptly when Joe comes out.
"What happened?"
"Nothing," Taylor mumbles.
"Ready?" He asks already knowing the answer.
"Yeah." She replies.
Joe shrugs and takes his phone from the nightstand to slide it in his pocket. Then they go out for shopping. Taylor buys a red dress for the occasion and Joe chooses a black tuxedo with red striped collar to match with her gown. They're a couple after all. After that they go to a restaurant to have lunch. Taylor enjoys his company during the whole time but a part of her mind still keeps thinking about the texts that Karlie had sent earlier.
Does Joe still talk to her?
