Heavy crown

The crown was heavy on your head
Planted on your hair, digging in your skin
You wore the weight of it quite well
Though your resistance was getting thin
Blood poored from the sharp edges
Running down in both of your eyes
Darkening them drip by drip until
They turned red and you were blind
The weight of the crown crushed you
As it blinded you from yourself
I offered to take some of the weight
But you refused to get any help
Your eyes turned red, hungry for power
It didn't take long before you changed
The charming prince was no more
As a tyrant took his place
Killing his people, murdering one by one
But it wasn't you, or so you said
And part of me even believed
It was the crown, heavy on your head
A hungry king, just seeing red
Long gone was the person I knew
The glitter and gold, the throne and the crown
Had turned you into someone new
