Clary's pov

We all walk upstairs and join the adults. They are all sitting at the table waiting for us. I take a seat across from my mom, and at the same time Jace and Sebastian come and take a seat on either side of me. My mom smirks at me and I glare at her.

"Valentine your son looks just like you." My mom says to Valentine while smiling at Sebastian.

Sebastian just smiles, and turns a bit red.

"He's lucky then." Valentine jokes and everyone laughs.

"Sebastian asked Clary out on a date." Satrina says to my mom.

"Mom." Sebastian says sharply and turns red. Satrina just laughs

"Oh I know Clary told me." My mom chuckles.

"Wait you asked her out?" Isabelle asks Sebastian.

"Yes I did." Sebastian says rushed

I feel Jace tense up beside me, and I wonder why.

"What about you Jace? Are you still dating Aline?" Mayrse asks.

"No I'm not." He says.

"Oh I'm sorry. You guys seemed to like each other a lot." Mayrse says sadly.

"Ehh." Jace says. "I think I like someone else now."

Jealously wells up inside me. Whose the girl he likes?

"Um excuse me." I say and I get up to use the bathroom. I needed a break from this for a few minutes

I use the bathroom and I walk straight into someone.

"Woah watch it Red." Jace says steadying me with hands. My skin burns where he touches me.

"Oh sorry." I apologize.

"Where are you going?" I ask him as starts to walk away.

"I have to get something from my room." He mutters.

Just before he's about to walk away from I say something I regret instantly.

"Whose the person you like?" I blurt out and Jace immediately stops walking, and turns to face me.

"Someone who I can't have." He says simply and he walks away.

What? I think to myself as I go back and sit down at the table. I am silent as everyone talks.

"Are you okay?" Sebastian whispers to me, noticing my silence.

"Yeah I'm okay." I force a smile a bit.

Jace returns sits down beside me. He doesn't say a word as he eats his food. His mother notices

"Jace are you alright?" Celine asks with concern.

"Um yeah I'm fine mum." He says.

It was clear he wasn't. What's wrong with him?
