It's been a few months since Y/n moved to Ireland, and saying that she's been working non-stop is an understatement. All she does all day is work, she has no social life, and all she could think about is Katie. They have been face timing each other every night when they get home from work or if they have their day-offs, and tonight is one of those nights.

"I miss you." Y/n said to Katie as they stared at each other through their phones.

"I miss you too, love." Katie couldn't help but smile at hearing her girlfriend's voice. She hates not being able to hug the younger girl, but she knows sacrifices should be made to achieve their dreams.

"I wish I could come home soon," Y/n said, longing to be in Katie's arms again. She couldn't help but yawn after the tiring day she had at work. She kept thinking that she could go back home to Katie without completing her four-year contract if she worked hard.

"You're always tired babe, you're overworking yourself," Katie said, worried that her girlfriend might be overdoing it.

"I'm not... I promise. I just need to work hard and smart, so I can go home to you in no time." The younger girl said as the thought of sleeping started to cloud her mind.

"Sleep babe, I'll watch over you." The green-eyed girl said as her girlfriend tried to conceal another yawn.

All y/n could do is hum in agreement, not having the strength to tell her girlfriend otherwise as she's far too sleepy to do anything for the night.

Katie smiled at the sight of her sleeping girlfriend. She knew how much effort she was putting into her work. Y/n would tell her everything ever since she landed in Ireland, and she was right. Their relationship just became a lot stronger, even with the distance being a massive hindrance in their relationship.

Back home, everyone seems to slowly accept Y/n's decision to break things off with Lucas. Leaving her ex-fiancé was never easy because she loved him somehow, but the heart really does want what it wants. In the end, the young architect had decided to send him a letter, apologizing and explaining her side of the story. She knew she couldn't make up for the pain she's put Lucas through. Still, she knows she'll thank him in the future for not having to go through a failed marriage with her if she hadn't broken things off.

The next day Y/n woke up in her cold apartment. Katie had already ended their call as she probably needed to sleep too. Since it's her day off and she wouldn't be hearing from Katie till tonight, the young girl has decided to get her coat and walk through the cold streets of Ireland.

All the girl could think about was Katie, and that she'd love the cold, gloomy climate, it miraculously snowed overnight, and she couldn't help but think that Katie would love to play in the snow. Every minute of every day, all she could think about was Katie. The green-eyed girl really captured her heart like nobody else had.

Walking with her head down, Y/n didn't notice the person in front of her until she bumped into the person.

"I'm really sorry, I wasn't looking to where I was going." Y/n apologized still with her head down, not being able to look at the person in the face, too scared of the person's expression.

"Don't worry, love. You can bump into me anytime." Y/n gasped in surprise. She knew that voice. She looked up to meet the piercing green eyes she's been longing to see for months.

"This has to be a fucking dream... you're not here," Y/n said, refusing to believe that Katie was in front of her, smiling at her surprised expression.

Cupping the younger girl's cheeks, Katie softly pressed lips on Y/n's, unable to contain the feeling of love and longing that she's had for months... even years. Y/n instantly wrapped her arms around Katie's waist, finally believing that Katie was indeed in front of her. The familiar taste of Katie's lips filled her thoughts, kissing the older girl with more passion with the snow falling down on them.

"Is that real enough for you, babe?" Katie asked after pulling away from their kiss.

The younger girl couldn't help but cry in the arms of her love as she tried to process everything that was happening.

"B-but how? You have your work, and we just called each other last night. Why didn't you tell me?" Y/n asked, hugging the older girl tight, refusing to let go.

Katie let out a small laugh.

"Well, my boss promoted me. My hard work finally paid off. He said I could work from home as long as I report to the office every three months. I took the liberty of surprising you since I know how hard you're working since you came here, and I just wanted to give you a little surprise." She immediately explained, finally relieved that she could finally be with her girlfriend.

"Still, why didn't you tell me, babe? I'm so proud of you!" Y/n said, happy that her girlfriend got the promotion that she deserves... even more, satisfied that they could now spend more time with each other.

"I love you so much." Katie said with so much love. Looking at the younger girl's face, all she could think about was how happy their lives would be from now on.

"I love you too, Katie," Y/n said with an equal amount of love.

Before any of them could say anything, Y/n grabbed Katie's face and kissed her once again with so much love passion. After months of being apart, months of endless thinking how they'd kill to be in each other's arms, they're finally together again. And all Y/n could care about is that she's here, in her arms, finally close to one another.

Stronger together, weaker apart.

The end.
