Yeji's POV

"We are on the verge of bankruptcy"

I froze on my seat as Papa revealed the sudden news to me.

Putting a hand on Papa's shoulder in support, Mama gave him a light squeeze as he heaves a sigh

"What do you mean bankruptcy Papa?" I asked, dreading the situation our family is currently facing.

"One of our trusted stockholders has betrayed us, Honey, and because of that, our company is currently in huge debt" He replied, only able to give me an apologetic smile.

I could feel my whole world crashing right in front of me as the gravity of the situation further sunk in.

"I'm sorry, Yeji, I'm so sorry that Papa has failed you. I failed both of you and your Mom," He mumbled sadly, gently gripping at the hand of his wife at his shoulder before standing to embrace her, pressing a light kiss to her temple.

'The company that my father worked so hard for so many years is now crumbling, one blow away from being completely toppled'

'How could they do this to us, a trusted stockholder at that? Why?'

'Why is the world such a cruel place?'
