Chapter 20

“His brother?” Lana said.

“You know her?” Darren pointed to Lana.

“Best friend,” I smirked.

“Just what I wanted,” he said, “To spend time with my brother and his girlfriend.”

“They’re not that bad,” Lana laughed, “I go to school with them.”

“Yeah yeah,” he said, “Are you ready for our date?”

“Can we hang out with Chloe and Clark?”

“Trust me; they have other things on their mind. Let’s go.”

“Okay. Bye Chloe!”

“Bye,” I waved as they left.

“That was a little too awkward to handle,” Grant said after they left.

I laughed, “Your brother’s fun to mess with though.”

He smirked, “Why do you think he’s always so annoyed at me?”

We both laughed. “What should we do now?” I asked.

“I don’t know,” he shrugged, “My parents really ruined the day.”

“Hey,” I put my hand on his arm, “I would rather know who they are now than not know anything about them.”

He smiled, “You’re amazing.”

“Then I have an idea,” I smiled back.

“What’s your idea?”

“We can go to my house. My parents and Peter are all gone having meetings or whatever so we’ll have the house to ourselves. We can watch a movie and cook some food. What do you say?”

“Do you know how to cook? Because I have no idea.”

“Yes,” I laughed, “I know how to cook.”

“Then I say let’s go.”

“Really?”

“You really think I want to go back to my house?” he asked.

“Will your parents be mad?” I asked back.

“It’s nothing they’re not used to. It’s fine. I’d have a lot more fun at your house than mine right now and I promised you a weekend not a day. I want to enjoy all the time I have with you now since you’re going to be gone.”

“Good,” I smiled, “I want to enjoy all the time I can with you too.”

We picked up our cappuccinos and drove to my house. My parents and Peter were still gone like expected. We walked in the house and both of us sat right on the couch.

“So how good’s your cooking?” Grant asked.

“I’m a gymnast,” I told him, “I’ve been forced to eat healthy my whole life. I learned to get creative.”

“Then make whatever you want. I’ll watch TV.”

“Are you sure?”

“Positive.”
