Chapter 57

Luke swallowed the lump in his throat. I looked up at him, as best as I could. Me and Luke were tangled in his bed. Our legs were entwined, our arms were entwined, our fingers were entwined. My head lied flat on his bare chest, slowly rising and falling with each breath he took. It was silent in his room, only a clicking sound that the fan made. It was hot today, so we were both sweating, hoping for the ceiling fan to cool us down. It wasn’t working, but I liked being this close to Luke. Luke wasn’t wearing a shirt, only a pair of green shorts that were made of cotton. I wore a loose singlet that didn’t quite make it to my waist, letting it bare my mid-riff, as well as a pair of denim shorts that were a bit small for me.

Luke shifted his weight, getting himself more comfortable. I couldn’t help but notice this was the third time he had done that in the past half an hour. I turned my head upwards to look at him, he was already staring at me, playing with his lip rings. “What’s the matter?” I asked, my voice a little hoarse.

“Nothing,” Luke mumbled, shaking his head a little.

“You can tell me, you know that right?” I said, raising my eyebrows. I moved upwards a little, so I was sitting up beside Luke. I was almost on my side. Using this position as an advantage, I combed my fingers though Luke’s hair, giving him a small smile.

Luke played around with his lip rings, his eyes glancing around the room. Finally, his eyes landed back on me, where his eyes looked a little saddened. “It’s just…I can’t believe this is our last night together…” He trailed off.

I sucked in a quick breath. It was my last night, and I was so close on the verge of tears. Tomorrow night was the performance and after that, I would be gone. There was nothing I could do. My Auntie had done everything in her power to persuade my Dad, but he didn’t take it. She even tried talking to my Mum. Nothing. Everything that was possible, we tried, but my parents didn’t budge. I was leaving Melbourne, whether I liked it or not.

“Luke…” I started, before trailing off. I chewed the inside of my lip as I looked in his brown eyes. My heart started picking up speed from what I was thinking.

“Yeah?” He asked, his voice sounding deep and gruff.

“We’ve got the house to ourselves right?” I asked. He nodded. “For the whole night?” He nodded once again.

I swung one leg over Luke’s body that was lying on the bed, so I was straddling him. I didn’t know if I wanted to do it here, especially right now, but what I did know, was that I wanted my last night with Luke to be something special.

Luke raised his eyebrows at me, almost in a teasing matter. I let my finger trail up Luke’s stomach and chest, so it was barely touching his skin. My lips were parted slightly as I took in the sight of Luke’s face. His hair was messy, from him laying down. His eyes were staring right into mine, and I couldn’t help but feel tingles. His full plump lips were screaming at me to kiss them. And so I did.

I kissed his lips hard. His lips molded into mine as quickly as my hands were on either side of his head, holding me up. I had never been on top before, so I was kind of getting used to where to put my hands. But as soon as my lips fell onto Luke’s, everything came as naturally and easy as it ever did. When I kissed Luke, I don’t think people understood how much I actually felt. My whole body was on fire, burning from the touch of his hands rubbing up and down my thigh, slowly reaching higher each time. My lips craved to kiss his exposed skin, to hear soft little moans come out of his mouth. My heart thumped against my chest harder and harder as each second came. I didn’t know where this was going, but I knew I wasn’t stopping any time soon.
