Molly...twenty four

by sloanranger

Our Indian summer heat wave went out with a bang sometime after Halloween and before Thanksgiving. Freddy's Mom and his sister Henrietta are making dinner this year and invited me over.

So I'm at Franks' Produce looking for pecans. "You making a pecan pie, for Thanksgiving, Molly?"

"Yeah, at least two — so's we'll have one leftover."

"Pecan's are nice this year, but high - .89 cents a pound."

"How much for the unshelled ones?"

"Those are the ones you gotta shell yourself, Molly."

"For the love of Mike, Frank...what are they gold plated."

"I don't know why, Moll, everything's going up."

"Well, it's only once a year, Frank; I guess you can give me two pounds.

"Feels like snow tonight, doesn't it?"

"It sure does, Frank. Frank?"

"Yes, Molly?"

"You got a haircut didn't you?"

"Now, Molly, you know I haven't got much hair to even mention it."

"Frank Mello, it looks just darling on you. Turn around, what did Jack do?  Why, I'll be, he's got the back of your neck shaped to where it comes down in a little point. If that isn't the sweetest thing..."

"Oh, Molly..."

"Are the kids coming for Thanksgiving, this year, Frank?"

"Yes, Betty's doing it up big."

"Well, you tell her, Hi, for me and a big kiss for the kids; and Happy Thanksgiving to ya'll, hear?"

(To be continued).
