That night Kala did not sit with Kalum in the great supper hall. In fact, Kalum couldn’t find her anywhere. He inquired with Master Dominic if he knew of her whereabouts and Master Dominic said she had retired early to her chambers complaining of a headache. Somehow, though, this did not reassure Kalum. Surely, Kala, would heed his scolding and stay out of this business with Cyndal. Kalum finally rationalized that Kala must have been upset with him over the scolding he gave her and this was how she was punishing him. Then perhaps though, he thought, she was so embarrassed of her behavior that she couldn’t bear to show her face in the great supper hall….After quick thought Kalum knew the latter idea was not like the Kala he knew so he made a mental note to go speak with her when supper was ended and smooth things over.
