What Went Wrong?

There's something

about love I cannot comprehend,

How it breaks a heart

that none could ever mend?

Why of all people

it broke the heart of him?

Put him on a state

he had never been,

Beneath the city lights

every glimmer, every spark,

He stayed out of sight

content in the dark,

Like a lost soul

but doesn't want to be found,

Like a missing piece

of something left on the ground,

When I see him sad like this

I wonder,

What went wrong?

They used to love each other,

Then it hit me

Perhaps he loved too much,

Like any other story

Theirs didn't last,

"How can I survive

a pain of this magnitude?" he asked me.

I remained silent

unable to speak,

How could she break his heart?

that, I couldn't understand,

The guy who loved her deeply--

now a broken man.
