Three

Three seats away from me, there you sat,

Three thick books on the table plus your bag,

Three seconds were all it took,

Three times I blinked when you suddenly looked,

Three days after that scene I saw you again,

Three steps away, you look just the same,

Three new books on your hands,

Three of your friends were just walking behind,

Three weeks after that I was in the same library

Three buildings away from where you might be,

Three minutes later I heard someone asked,

“Three? It’s your name, isn’t it?”, I froze then I gasped,

Three quick nods, all that I managed to do,

Three uncertain glances back at you,

Three fresh red roses, you slowly gave them to me,

“Here, roses for you. They’re from my friend, Billy.”

Three long moments before it hit me,

Three of your friends appeared behind you, grinning naively,

“Three, the roses are from him not fom me, by the way, I’m Billy.”

“Three, he likes you that much, by the way, I’m Mikey.”

Three dots of sweat appeared on your pallid face,

Three revelations and then I felt daze,

Three minutes earlier, I was just thinking of you,

Three minutes later, you gave me roses without giving a clue,

Three words slipped from your mouth,

“Three, I like you.” you said to wash away my doubts,

Three words you uttered made me blush and looked at the floor,

Three seconds later, I looked up when you said,

“By the way, my name is Four.”
