Don't

Don't

I heard myself

say it once,

Like a code

or a command,

Like a password

we both made

but never

did you understand,

'Cause when you took

a step away,

I told you, "Don't."

But you didn't stop

or even wait,

You left

like others did,

And took away

a big part of me,

But here I am,

still remembering,

still loving you,

Though my mind

shouts, "Don't!"

Dammit!

I still do.
