Souls

We are souls craving
for something great,
The hunger builds up--
to wanting until we break,
Minds content in sleep
and hearts that wouldn't wake,
In darkness we find comfort
In silence we drift away,

We are souls longing
for what we have but lost,
Maybe it's the feeling
now turned to late night thoughts,
A map of history on our bodies
left by kisses
and whispered words
They linger to lead us back
To each other
or maybe to haunt us
by our ghosts,

We are souls hoping
for stars to fall in our hands,
To search for wishing wells
and even dandelion's land,
So we could make wishes
and take a thousand chance,
To reclaim the love we lost
and wake in each other's arms.
