Year Ten continued.

Joe's POV

"Joe I like you, as in more than a friend way.."
Those words rung in my ears. Dianne liked me, as more than a friend? She liked me too.

I didn't know what to say. I tried to form words but nothing would come out. "I knew I shouldn't have said anything..." She gets up and runs to the bathroom, locking the door behind her.

"Dotty open the door." I bang on it.
"NO JOE LEAVE ME ALONE." She shouts.
"Dianne, please, open the door. I need to talk to you." I reply, this time a bit softer.
Hearing her sniff, she replies, "No, I'm too embarrassed to talk."

''Dotty it's OK, just come out. Please?'' I ask.

Hearing the click of the lock, the door opens and Dianne walks out with tear stained eyes. ''Dotty, come here. Please?'' She nods, walking over to me.

''I'm sorry Joe, I shouldn't have said what I said. I don't want it to ruin our friendship so just forget it.'' She whispers.

''What if I don't want to forget it?''

''What?''

''Dianne, I like you too.'' I can see a little smile form.

''You do?'' I nod. ''But why?''

''What do you mean?'' I ask confused.

''I mean, why do you like me?'' She asks.

''God where do I start?'' I laugh. ''Everything. I mean, you're beautiful inside and out. You have a heart of gold, always putting others first. You're so selfless, you really are. You have the same sense of humour as me, dry and witty. Your laugh is adorable, and so infectious I just love it,'' She blushes. ''You're perfect, well for me, anyway. You're my dream girl, Dot. I just didn't realise it. Yes, we may be young, but they do say if you know, you know.

And I do. I know, Dianne. I know you're the one for me. I'm really falling for you. I want to give us a try, and if we don't work, then I want to stay friends. Because honestly, you're my best friend and either way I don't want to lose you. You belong with me.'' I finish to see she has tears running down her face.

''Kiss me.'' She whispers. Moving closer, I pull her into me as I wrap my arms around her. My heart beating at God know's what, a minute. Slowly closing my eyes, I pull her in tight as I kiss her. The kiss sending sparks and butterflies to erupt.

Pulling away with the biggest smiles on our faces, I bite my lip. That kiss was like no other. Amazing, and so, so much better than Dawn. She's the one for me.

I cannot stop smiling. ''So, where do we go from here?'' She asks.

''Well,'' Rubbing my nose on hers, causing her to smile and giggle. ''I'm still getting over Dawn, so why don't we try it, unofficially and see how we feel being more than friends... I guess?''
