7: Slaughter

A great rampage started. Dozens of fortisians charged out from different directions carrying along with them various weapons. There were also robots whose outer bodies were made from the same bones that the fortisians had.

The fight that ensued was heart shaking. The fortisians were easily dealt by the bony orb but the robots who were nonliving things were a different case. All the psyche attacks would barely deal any damage towards them. It showed that despite being a race that depended on their bodies to survive, they still haven't neglected their technologies.

A golem-like fighter robot kept emitting strange sounds from its body as it launched fist attacks at the humans.

"Tsk! Shut up!" Mayne screamed at the robot and with all of his strength, he grabbed a spear of a fallen fortisian and stabbed.

The robot had a few areas where it wasn't covered by the robot and despite being unbelievably fast itself, it still was not able to dodge the incoming spear that was headed for its eye.

Now that it lost its sight, the robot couldn't do anything but attack without aim.

Maybe backed away and took another spear with him before he slashed at the few areas that connected the robot's limbs to the main body.

Finally, the robot dropped into the floor and couldn't move anymore. However, Mayne also fell to his knees. He was dead tired from lifting such a heavy spear.

The other humans quickly surrounded him, creating a wall to prevent the enemies from targeting him when he was down.

Alexa and the others left also took the weapons from the ground and left all of the remaining fortisians for the bong orb to deal with.

Soon, their group quickly advanced to the other areas of the fortress. Screams of misery and hatred could be heard from all directions as the invading alien races were slowly killed one after another.

As they did so, they couldn't help but encounter some danger that not even the bony orb was fast enough to react to. A few humans were forced to stop fighting due to injuries and retreated to some rooms to rest.

Meanwhile, the bone covering that surrounded the orb of light was now whiter and smoother than ever. It was as if it was untainted by even a speck of dust. When the light shone upon it, it would shine like crystal.

The others couldn't help but wonder what will happen if it could kill more fortisians.

"Since you all came here then don't expect that there wouldn't be someone strong enough to deal with you!" a voice from a man sounded out.

More fortisians came and attacked them but this time, they were lead by a man whose body was larger than the others. The bones on his body were also sharper.

The bony orb didn't say anything in return to the man's words. Instead, a formless pressure seemed to have been emitted from its body.

A concentrated beam of light appeared and shot towards the large fortisian. Unexpectedly, even this level of attack was blocked by him. However, he was still injured and couldn't help but take a few steps back to balance himself.

The fortisian was shocked. He was the appointed leader of this fortress.Their race appointed leaders based not only on smarts but most importantly on strength, so it should be obvious that he was definitely stronger than his fellow fortisians. However, just a single exchange was enough to injure him.

"Humans, die!" He roared and wielded his scythe towards the humans.

However, what met him was a barrage of concentrated beams of psyche energy fired by the bony orb.

"No!" The fortisian screamed.

His mind was being corroded and he was slowly losing contorl of his senses. Soon, he fell to the ground lifeless.

The remaining fortisians who had seen this felt as if the world had just cracked into pieces. Their powerful leader died just like that?

They quickly turned tail and ran as fast as they could. Maybe if they could inform the other bases about this matter then they could still be rescued.

However, they were bound to be dissapointed.

Psyche energy attacks flew like rain and landed each upon their heads. These attacks didn't only come from the body orb but from the other humans too.

"I don't want to die!" a fortisian screamed before his mind exploded.

"If I'm gonna fall here then you can follow me too!" A fortisian said and shot a few weapons at the humans. He wanted to take down a few enemies even if he died.

Suddenly, hands made up of psyche energy appeared and grabbed these weapons. They were then shot back to the opposite direction, killing a few more fortisians.

The one who shot the weapons paled when he saw this. He emitted a roar from his mouth before he fell to the ground lifeless, dying from intense aggravation.

An hour later, no one was left inside the fortress except for the humans.
