8: Boreas

The wind whistled as an oversized white boxing glove flashed through the air. At the same time, another fist that looked like the mouth of a shark appeared and took it head on.

The boxing glove came from a white kangaroo which had a funny grim expression on its face. Winds swirled aorund it as moved around the battlefield. The other fist came from Alexa who was as usual playing the role of a tank and a fighter.

Kian hovered a few meters away from the ground. He was watching the battle below with boredom.

"Oh. Two kangaroos boxing, Round Two!" he couldn't help but say.

The next moment, a shark like shockwave met his face and sent him backing away on the air for about few seconds. Kian couldn't help but snort at the young woman below who sent the flying fist.

Another round of punches and kicks started. Alexa seemed to be uninterested in killing the monster. The kangaroo however was so frustrated that it couldn't help but roar at Alexa and run away a few seconds later.

"That was disappointing." Alexa seemed sad.

The gauntlets on her arms disappeared. She jumped into a levitating stone and slowly sat down.

"Tired yet? Cause I really wanna go back now. I'm hungry." he said and approached her.

She suddenly held out her hand and met his eyes. Kian couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at her gesture.

"What?" he asked.

"Lift me up" she said and raised another hand. Her mouth was pouted and her pupils were upturned.

The scene of her imitating a child made Kian felt as if he had just eaten a box of candies. Her actions were so adorable that he couldn't help but feel soft hearted. Of course, he didn't show anything on his face aside from helplessness and irritation.

With a click of a tongue, he gently held her hands and slowly pulled her till she was standing. As he did so, the great difference between his dexterity points and strength couldn't help but show its effects.

Alexa was thrown into his chest. If not for the fact that Kian was able to stabilize himself, they would've already fell to the ground. Their eyes slightly opened wide.

"Haha sorry!" Kian casually laughed and backed away from her.

It was also the same for her.

After they managed to get rid of the awkwardness for a few seconds, they decided to return back to the surface. A gate of light appeared and they both passed through its surface.

The next moment, they were already outside of a gigantic white tower pierced through the clouds. They were in front of two wide open gigantic metallic doors.

This was the Cloud Tower Boreas, the largest dungeon inside the game. Although it looked small, there was a whole new world inside it. A world that meets the sky.

Currently, no one knows what was above the top of the dungeon since Cosmage and other similar ranks were the highest that the players could reach. Their level of strength aren't enough to withstand the higher levels.

Cloud Tower Boreas was named after the city where it was located. Also known as the largest city with most developed system of economy in the whole game, Boreas city is stormed by countless players no matter what faction they belonged to.

"So, where do you want to eat?" Kian asked her as they passed through the busy streets of the bustling city.

Alexa thought for a while before she chose to go into a certain street. Kian followed her as they squeezed through the crowded areas.

They already spent a month in Boreas City but he still couldn't help but marvel at the massiveness of this place. He was certain that he haven't even reached a tenth of this place despite walking around almost everywhere with Alexa this whole month.

With the players' collaboration, the NPCs or the so-called residents of this world were able to build establishments that looked exactly like the ones normally found on Earth.

A few minutes later, they found a quite secluded restaurant. They chose this place since there were less players and the ambiance was also relaxing.

"So, how's the money gathering plan?" Alexa asked as she munched on her meal.

Kian couldn't help but get depressed at her words.

Just a week ago, Alexa managed to enter the Martial Lord Rank, the cosmage rank equivalent for martial artist type warriors. What she had to do was simply kill a Martial Lord level monster.

She managed to kill one by hiring a Cosmage who first damaged a monster till it reached the red zone of its health and then gave her the opportunity to land a killing blow.

Kian also received his ranking quest at the same time as her. However, what he needed to do was kill five of them. Moreover, they had to be ten levels above level one hundred. It made him feel so frustrated.

His growth had slowed down for the past few months so he couldn't help but wonder why he still recieved such difficult quests.

He tried asking Xian and Mal, Alexa's shark Battle pet. They said it was probably because of the back up system malfunctioning because of the Dimension Separation.

Currently, he only managed to kill two monsters by spending three hundred thousand Rune Stones per kill. His money was basically drained in just two exchanges. Thankfully, there was Alexa who was by his side to help him hunt so he didn't need to hire a lot of Cosmages.

"I gotta go right after we eat. Wanna come with me to the dungeon?" he looked at her into the eye.

"Nah. There's a recently opened spa just a few streets away. Why not come with me instead? Relax those bones for a bit." she suggested. There was a hint of worry in her eyes as she said those words to Kian

A wry smile couldn't help but surface on his face for a second. Only he knew that the strange sense of urgency within him was the reason why he wanted to become stronger. He didn't let any other expression appear on his face. Instead, a teasing smile formed on his lips.

"To think that the our amazon woman actually knows what a spa is." he lightly poked her nose with his forefinger.

Of course, the usual fist came flying on his face once again. Her face was a bit puffed. It only made Kian feel more quite eager to tease her.

"Whatever. Go ahead and knock your head inside the dungeon while I'll get the best time of my life" she snorted and continued eating.

He couldn't help but gaze at her until she raised an eyebrow at him. After that, he quickly tried to finish his food.

"See you later!" Kian waved slightly at her and walked off.

"Yeah, yeah.  Bring me a souvenir" Alexa nonchalantly said.

She was about to leave when she couldn't help but stare at Kian's disappearing back.

For some reason, she felt as if something huge was about to happen to Kian. Something very big. She didn't know what it would be but it could be both bad or good.
