Chapter 36

"Thanks for telling me." I sarcastically mumbled.

Maude worked her way around the kitchedn preparing food.

"Didn't want to be the one to upset you."
"Do I look upset."
"Yeah."
"Well I'm not."
"Good to know. Want to help make the food."
"Nope."
"Then get your butt out of my kitchen and go annoy your brother."
"But hes sooooo boring."
"Ansley I don't care. Your now anoying me please leave or sit quietly."

I stood up getting out of my seat. I walked around the house thinking of something i could do.

"Im going surfing."
"O! Can I come?"
"Yeah sure."
"Did you hear?"
"About what?"
"The family dinner?"
"Yeah dad texted me too. Go get ready so we can leave and hopefully avoid seeing them with out Dad being here."

I sprinted up the stairs throwing on a bikini and a quick outfit. I walked outside and went to go grab my surf board.

"Nope." Chris pressed his hand my board gluing it to the wall.
"Whats wrong?"
"You can tan or walk the beach. Your back is fractured still."
"Oh yeah. Ugh. I really wanted to go surfing."
"Are you coming still?"
"Yeah but we are stopping by Kayla's on the way."
"Sounds good."

I called Kayla and put her on speaker phone.

"Hey Kay."
"Ansley! Hey are you home?"
"Yeah got home a few hours ago. Do you want to come to the beach with us?"
"Us?"
"Hey Kayla."
"Christian. Nice to here you."
"So?" I questioned.
"Sure are we walking or are you picking me up."
"Picking you up. We are like two seconds away."
"Sounds good see you then."

When Kayla got into the car we did an awkward hug and Chris tried turning up the music to drown out our talking.

"We are here." Chris said turning off the car.

The three of us got out of the car and Chris unloaded his and Kayla's surfboards. Well I took the towels they got suited up.

The beach was surprisingly pretty empty and we found a spot to put all of our crap down.

I watched as they paddled out a few of their runs then I got bored and laid back scrolling through my instagram.

"Ansley! Hey I didn't know you were back."

I sat up putting my sunglasses on my head. Looking over at Jack. I got up and hugged him lightly. He hugged back a little too hard and I winced.

"Oh sorry?"
"Its fine I just have a few broken bones here and there."
"No shit? Seriously?"
"Yeah it was an accident."
"What happened."
"Uh, a few weeks ago we were out swimming in rough water and I got to close to the rocks."
"Oh thats horrible. Im happy to see you up and walking."
"Thanks. Im happy to see you. God its been forever."
"Oh I know-"
"Ans!" Jared ran up beside his brother.
"Hey. How was the rest of your summer."
"Good I heard yours didnt end to grand."
"Haha no that it did not."
"Uh well we have to get going but it was good seeing you Ansley." Jack said smiling.
"You too. Have fun at collage."
"I will."
"Bye guys."
"Bye."
"Bye."

I sat back down pulling my book out of my bag. Everfound by Neil Shusterman. I tried reading for a while but i ended putting the book down falling asleep. I was harshly shook and I looked up to find Chris above me.

"Fancy seeing you here." I smiled
"Come on Dad is home and pissed."

I sprung off the sand and we quickly picked up our stuff.

"Wait where is Kayla?" I questioned as we walked back to the car.
"She went home with Liam."
"On a scale from one to ten how mad do you think he will be."
"As long as they are there he can't yell at us."
"That mad?"
"Yeah."

Chris drove home a lot faster than the speed going there. We walked up towards the house and then climbed up the aray of palm trees to my balcony going inside.

"See you down there in 5." Chris said closing my door."

I putt on a black maxi skirt and an oversized white top and forgot about shoes as I ran down the stairs composing myself. I looked around and didnt see anyone in the house.

"They are in the back."
"Oh. Why?"
"Don't know."

We walked through the back doors outside to where they all sat around the table. John Christina's new husband wasn't there and they sat at the opposite ends of the table from each other and were engaged in an awkward conversation.

"Christian Ansley. I am so happy you can join us." Christina smiled.

"Wouldn't of wanted to miss it for the world."
