We continued to progress when the Mechanist called out that the eclipse was about to happen and ordered everyone to put on their special glasses.
"Well, here comes useless me," I muttered, spotting Katara with her father. "Looks like as good a place as any to be."
I jogged over to them.
"Jin, it's good to see you're alright," Katara said.
She was supporting her dad.
"I got you," I took his other arm and shifted his weight from her to me. "I might as well make myself useful now that firebending is out, huh?"
Hakoda laughed in a good-natured way.
"It also leaves you free to waterbend, Katara," I pointed out, pushing my snazzy new shades into place. "I'll be needing you to watch my back, pretty please."
Katara smiled. "Of course, but have you seen Mangetsu? I'm worried."
"No," my own smiled slipped. "He was upfront at some point, but I lost sight of him. Honestly, if something had happened to him, we'd know... We with our odd hair kind of stand out."
"You're right," Katara's expression still held that worry, even as we turned to look at the moon slide in front of the sun. "I hope he's ok..."
