She walked inside of her apartment. It was dark inside. By this time it’s already passed midnight. She led out a breath as she thought that Lucas has already went to sleep. What was she thinking? He wouldn’t wait for her this late at night.

At the same time that she closed the door behind her, she took off her shoes. Then she flip the light switch on. As she looked up, she gasped. Lucas cuddled himself against the sofa, his feet up on the sofa, and his arms hugged his legs. The bottom of his chin leaned against his knee; his long hair fell down his forehead to his eyes, which were looking down. He looked so insecure, lonely, and vulnerable.

He looked up as the light went on. As soon as he saw Ali by the door his eye immediately filled with sparkle.

Her heart tightened as he saw him like that, even though it only lasted seconds. She set the invitation card in her jacket’s pocket, and then quickly walked over to him. She took him into an embrace, and Lucas was really cooperative. His arm surrounded her waist, and he snuggled tightly against her.

“I missed Ali.” His voice was soft and sweet.

“I missed you too.”

He smiled satisfyingly against her.

“Why were you late today?” He asked worriedly.

“After I went to find a job, I met someone I knew today. We talked for while, and I got lost of the time.”

“Was Ali’s past very interesting? Is that why you and your friend talked for a long time?”

“Uhm. It is not that interesting. In fact it’s pretty average. Just like any other family.”

After they talked for a while, Ali’s cheek got really red, and it’s not because the she was hot. Whenever Lucas talks, it’s like he was soft bellowing on her neck. After a while, she felt her whole body is growing limp.

“Lucas, lets goes to bed.”

“Oh, ok.” When he walked to the bedroom door, he turned back and asked Ali, “Are you coming.”

“I’m going to make a phone call first, you can go to sleep first.”

She went out on the balcony. The night air during the early fall is really nice. The cool wind brushed against her skin. She can hear the rustling of the trees.

Taking out her phone, she dials the number. After a few beeps, a voice came over. “Hello.”

“Hi mom.”

“Oh, Ali. How are you?”

“I’m doing fine.”

“Is everything alright over there? How is your school? Are you getting used to the place?”

“Yea, everything is ok, mom. The school is going very well…” She talked about her current situation for a while and then she finally hanged up.

When she came back inside, it was dark, so she didn’t close the curtains, using the light from the outside to guide her way towards the bed.

The soft cushion sink down as she got on the bed. Carefully, she lied beside Lucas. The Lucas’s body flipped over, his arm landed on her waist and he snuggled against her sleepily.

This is going to be a long night. Her mind is roaming with thoughts that she can’t and there is an emotion inside her that she just can’t push away.

The next morning she was awoke before her alarm ringed. 

"Good morning, Ali.” He greeted her sleepily.

“Good morning.” She smiled back. 

This morning she greeted Lucas normally and went out.

On her way to school, a thought kept bothering her. Can she really go to Levi’s place? What are she suppose to say to Lucas if she did?

After struggling for a while, she decided not to go.

The day passed normally, and she walked home. Maybe Levi would forget about her. Maybe he wouldn’t come to find her again, but what about the job? She guess she just have to keep trying. She doesn’t believe that she can’t live without him.

 The next day when she finished with her classes, she went out to find a job again. When she was walking on the street, she saw him again.

 

Lines of limos stopped before her. At first she didn’t know why, but she immediately understood as she saw Levi stepped out of the first limo. Following him what looks like bodyguards stepped out of the last two. There were two particular people, dressed formally, stood rather closely against him, in which they looked like his assistant.
