CHAPTER 9- A Child.

A child is a very complex human being, although we see them as simple. They see things that adults do not, they see simplicity and love. Although they do not see, they believe and have complete trust in those who have not earned it yet. A child is useful in situations that seem stressful and crazy because they don't see why it is described as that. As a child learns and grows the world fills it's mind with lies and hate and it turns their warm and open heart into stone. They grow to be adults, and lose their joy with the life their given. They begin to want other things, believe that they need other things to be happy. They lose their simplicity.

Demi's POV

I woke up to Mac snuggled into my side. After a few moments of watching her sleep, I gently untangled myself so not to wake her up and walked downstairs. As usual, Nick was there, typing on his phone at the kitchen counter. Not bothering to sneak up on him I turned his body around and hugged him. Nick's arms wrapped around me tightly, "Is Mac okay? I woke up this morning and you'd gone into her bed." I sighed and pushed him onto a chair, then sat on his lap. "No, I don't think she's okay." Immediately, Nick's voice was alarmed and full of protectiveness. "What happened." Knowing he would react this way, I tried to say it as calmly as possible, it didn't do much good. "Uhm... Marissa and Maddie may have watch a movie with Mac that they shouldn't of." His eyes widened, "What do you mean Demi." I sighed, "They watched Chuckie." Nick stood up, nearly knocking me off of his lap and onto the floor. "They watched what movie?!" I grimaced slightly, "Chuckie?" He ran an angry hand through his hair, "Demi they cannot just allow our five year old daughter to watch movies like that, what the hell is wrong with them?" I stepped away from his body that was radiating anger and Nick's face softened. "Hey, C'mere I didn't mean to raise my voice at you. It's just... I love her a lot and I don't want her to be exposed to those things so early." With a nod, I walked into his outstretched arms, breathing in Nick's familiar scent. "I know, I'm really, really mad at them. Especially after I specifically said nothing over PG." Nick sighed, "What are you going to do?" That was the question I was trying to wrap my head around, "I don't know."

After a little while, I heard the sound of tiny footsteps and we broke apart to see Mac at the foot of the stairs, her hair perfectly messy and holding her stuffed bunny. The sight was adorable, if it hadn't been for the tear brewing in her red-rimmed eyes. "Babygirl what's wrong?" As an answer she sniffled and ran over to me, reaching to be picked up. Once settled on my hip Mac buried her face into my hair.
"Shh baby, I'm here... What's wrong?" Mac sniffled, "I woked up and you weren't there, I thought Chuckie got you." I glanced at Nick who was fuming, "Baby Chuckie isn't real."  Mac crossed her arms, "Yes he is." I sighed, "No, he's just a person in a movie." She shook her head, "But you were a person in a movie and you're real." I nodded, "yeah, but he's fiction. Made up." Mac remained stubborn, "You said you were fiction too." I internally cursed, I'd only said that because she wouldn't shut up about me marrying Shane. "My movie was a different type of fiction." However, I knew she didn't buy it, Mac's too smart for my bullshit. "Mama that doesn't make sense." With a sighed, I glanced at Nick for help but he just shrugged. "Alright baby, just go watch T.V." Mac ran over to the couch and turned on Wizards of Waverly place. Her infatuation had switched from Dora and Handy Manny to Wizards and Hannah Montana and she hadn't made the connection with Selena yet. Suddenly, an idea hit me and I turned to Nick, "Clear your schedule for tomorrow."

Later in the day, I texted Marissa and Maddie to come over. When the doorbell rang, Nick and I both answered it, wearing obviously fake smiles. "Hi guys!" I chirped brightly. Nick's grin widened significantly, "Come on in!" Maddie shoved Marissa in front of her and gave us a weird look. "Hey Dems... How've you been?" I giggled, "Great! I was thinking we could watch a movie?" Marissa and Maddie both nodded hesitantly and we all sat down. "where's Mac?" I shrugged, "Taking a nap." As I flipped through the movies my finger stopped at one. "Oh, maybe we should watch this one!" It was Chuckie two. Marissa shifted uncomfortably, "Why'd you pick that one?" I shrugged again, "I think Mac said it was good." Immediately, Marissa and Maddie began to make excuses but I held up my hand. "I don't want to fucking hear it you two. I just want you both to know that my trust for both of you regarding Mac is completely broken. She's fucking five years old and you think she's old enough to watch Chuckie? She freaks out watching 'The Little Vampire' on Disney Channel! And I literally took you aside and specifically told you nothing over PG. Yet you go and do it anyway? What the fuck is wrong with you?" By now I was screaming and Marissa and Maddie had their heads hung in shame. "I really want to know what logic was going through your head at letting her watch that. Huh?" Neither said a word. "ANSWER ME." The two girls jumped and Marissa spoke up, "I-I thought you wouldn't be that mad because we did it to Madison when she-" "Marissa! We were both fifteen! You're an adult now and you should have been thinking like one!" Now, I turned on Maddie. "And you. Young Lady don't think I won't be telling mom about this!" The blood drained from her face, "Aww C'mon Demi! She'll kill me and you know it!  Besides, it was Marissa's idea! I'll be grounded forever!" "Hey!" Marissa interjected, you actually picked the movie!" As they bickered, my frustration grew. "ENOUGH! Both of you... Out! Just leave. I'm so disappointed in both of you.

~*~

Later that night I went into Mac's room to say goodnight but found her already asleep. Rather than have her wake up and worry about monsters I closed the door and walked into the bedroom where Nick was laying down. "Hi." I murmured, kissing his jaw as I slipping under the covers. "Hey babe." He smiled, wrapping an arm around my waist and pulling me into his side. "Mac okay?" I nodded, "She's asleep." Nick brought his lips to my ear, "How quiet can you be?" I giggled, "It depends on the activity Mr.Jonas." With a chuckled, he pushed his lips onto mine., kissing me roughly. "Mmph." I moaned, pulling his closer, locking my fingers in his hair. After a few seconds he slipped his tongue across my lip and claimed dominance without a fight from me, exploring every inch of my mouth. As he pulled me on top of his body, I would feel Nick's growing member on my thigh. With a smirk, I pulled away. "I think that's enough for tonight." Nick groaned and pulled away as I nuzzled into his neck, "I love you." After I heard a gruff, "I love you too."

~*~

"MOMMY." My eyes flew open and in a split second I was running to Mac's room. As I reached it, my heart nearly stopped, Mac wasn't in her bed. "NICK!" I screamed, and heart his pounding footsteps down the hall. "What's wrong? Where's Mac?" He boomed as he ran into the room. "I don't know! I heard her scream and now she's gone!" I yelled back, pacing around the room and checking underneath her bed... twice. Nick grabbed my arms, halting my frantic pacing. "Demi. Calm down, we can't think logically unless you calm down." I nodded and took a shaky breath through my nose. "Okay. Where-"

I was interrupted by a bloodcurdling scream.
