"Mai." My mom whispered lowly, making me look up.
"Hey mom." I greeted, looking over at Akashi.
I envy the way he can stand up to himself.
Maybe that's why I like him so much; I look up to him.
"I wanted to offer something." Akashi said, ignoring me. "While you are in America, Mai can stay at my house."
"Hormonal teenager," my mother stated, then snorted in laughter.
"Uh... You see, Mai seems to like it here, so why not let her stay? And my house is big enough."
"Your parents?" Akashi scolwed slightly.
"They are okay with this," he replied calmly.
I wanted to laugh as I understood; Akashi was trying to convince my Mom to let me stay at Japan.
What if I don't even want to?
Besides, Mom would never let me-
"I'm better off without you."
"My life would have been better if I had given you away."
"The grief is the reason you're still here. You look like your father. I don't love you."
"I don't love you."
"Nobody can love you."
"Nobody will love you."
"Better off without you."
"If your parents are okay with it... Okay."
I looked into my mother's eyes in hatred, towards myself more than anything, then stormed off to my room.
