Chapter 39

**Ryan's POV**

"You really think she'll like it?" I asked

"Yes, you could put guitar sting around her finger and she'd love it"

"Thanks Jamie."

"When are you going to propose?" Ricky asked

"She gets home on Wednesday. I was thinking Saturday."

"Do you need help planning anything?" Jamie asked

"I don't think so. I'm driving to Philly tomorrow to ask her dad if I can propose"

"Do you need backup?" Ricky asked

"No, I think I'll be ok"

"Let us know how it goes" Jamie said

The next day

I just got to Philadelphia and I'm meeting Carter's parents for lunch

"Hi Ryan!" Carter's mom greeted

"Hello ma'am, how are you?"

"I'm great, but please call me Carrie." She smiled

"Ryan, nice to see you again" Carter's dad said firmly shaking my hand

"Nice to see you as well, sir"

"Well, let's go eat" Carrie said walking into the restaurant

After we ordered our lunch Carter's dad asked the question I didn't want to answer

"Why'd you ask us to lunch, Ryan?"

"Well,  I kinda have an important question to ask you"

"And that is?"

"I was wondering if I could have your daughters hand in marrige."

Carter's dad just sat there in silence for what felt like hours

"There's a couple things I'm worried about. For one you haven't been dating for that long, and what's going to happen when Carter gets pregnant and you go on tour and she's stuck raising your kid on her own"

"Well, I know I truly love Carter with all my heart and I'll be by her side until my last breath. As for kids I don't plan on ever having them"

"Have you discussed this with Carter?" Carrie asked

"I have. We just don't know when or if kids will ever be in the plans for us"

"Do you already have a ring?" Carter's dad asked

"Yes" I got the small box out of my pocket and gave it to her dad

"What a beautiful ring!" Carrie complinted

"Ok" Carter's dad said

"Ok?"

"You can propose to Carter. She's a very smart girl and can make her own desicions."

"Thank you. You're approval means a lot to me"

"Don't hurt her like the last guy did or you'll have to deal with me"

"Yes sir"

"We can't wait to have you apart of the family. When do you plan on proposing" Carrie asked

"On Saturday. I'm going to take her out to a very nice dinner then ask her after dinner"

"What a wonderful plan! Carter is going to be in such awe of you"

"Thank you"

We finished lunch and I got ready to drive back to Scranton. I decided to call Ricky and tell him the good news

"Hello?"

"Guess what"

"What?"

"Carter's parents said I could propose"

"That's awesome, man. So is everything set for Saturday?"

"Yeah, I just have a quick favor to ask of you."

"What's up?"

"Can you come and take pictures of the whole thing"

"Of course. That'll be fun, but you know Jamie will have to come along too"

"Thats fine. See you Saturday"
