Up and Down

Hey mum

In the morning I made eggs and bacon for both Hunter and I, then head over to Charlie's to get a change of clothes and explain Kate. As I cross the road I see Charlie watching me through the kitchen window, I wave and smile running in crashing into him on the way,

"Woah, I know I'm amazing but jeez Ivy calm down" he laughs, I look up and see him holding a piece of nutella toast above my head,

"Hey Charlie look at that!" I point in the opposite direction, Charlie being Charlie falls for it and I take a big bite of the delicious toast,

"Sorry, thought I saw something, nice toast by the way" He growls at me, I mean literally growls, I burst out laughing , then he realizing what he's done he laughs to,

"So, what do you want, and why were you at Hunter's?"

"Oh yes" I become serious " Kate, she's in a coma"

"Wait what, your kidding right?"

"No, Charlie, Bryan was high and was driving with her in the car"

"Oh god, why did she go to Bryan"

"How am I supposed to know you twit" I smack over the back of the head

"Hey, I just figured since you know everything else you might know about this, how do you know all of this anyway?"

"Because Bryan told me"

"Huh, I'm guessing his no different then?"

"Nope, but Charlie, I can't lose Kate" He pulls me into a hug stroking the top of my head

"I know, I know she'll wake up"

"How? we can't be sure"

"I can be sure because its Kate and beneath all that girly stuff there a strong independent fighter"

"I know,  but what if she doesn't? What will I do?"

"You'll grieve her, you'll always remember her and you'll move on with your life because that is what she'd want you to do" I look up at him with watery eyes

"You really think"

"No Ivy I know" I smile sadly at him, My phone rings and I answer pulling away from Charlie, its Chase,

"Hey, I'm sorry I left yesterday I was in shock and I was worried about Kate"

"I know Ivy, if it were Ryder in the hospital I would've done the same thing"

"I know" I whisper

"Hey do you wanna come around?" 

"Yes please"

"Okay do you remember where I live or do you want me to pick you up?" I look at Charlie, I'll take you, he mouths, 

"Thanks" I whisper

"No, Chase, I can get there"

"Okay, see you soon". I let out a sigh and rest my head on Charlies shoulder

"Now, Ivy why were you at Hunter's house, were you cheating on Chase?" His tone stern, I let out a laugh

"No, last night I stayed at his house because I knew he wouldn't ask about Kate and I was right, instead we got drunk then watched a bunch of disney movies"

"Really Ivy you watched disney movies.... Without me! How could you do that" We both laugh, 

"I miss everything being normal"

"Yeah, same, Kate would do you make up and stuff"

"And I'd complain about it to you"

"Yeah, you know what sometime we gotta have a sleepover again soon, we haven't had a proper one in ages, you know the ones where we get take away food and argue over movies, get over it and either sleep on the couch or in my bed"

"Yeah, and there were those times where I fell asleep on the couch and you'd carry me to bed"

"Yeah and that time you cracked my head open when you tried to drag me to the bedroom when I fell asleep on the couch" I laugh

"Yeah good times"

"How is that a good time?"

"Well, funny time atleast"

"Okay, well, I better get you to Chase"

"Yeah"".

Charlies POV

I watch Ivy as I drive her to Chase's grand home, she stares out the window thinking. Many people think Ivy and I are a thing, even when we tell we're not they don't believe us, I mean my best friend is beautiful but she's not my type, she's my friend and thats how she'll stay, my stubborn, annoying best friend, no matter what. Which is why I know I have to be there for her, all of us need to look after each other, speaking of which, I wonder how Ryder's going, I mean he really loves Kate and she loves him, which is new I mean Kate's relationships never last, but this one with her and Ryder its special and I have a feeling that its gonna last no matter what they go through. 

"Bye Charlie" Ivy calls 

"Bye" I say when shes gone. 

I go home and start searching through my mothers office, but its not there, I keep searching, when my sister comes to the door,

"Looking for this" She practically sings, I stare at the files in her hands,

"Where did you get those?"

"Where did you get them?" I gape at her "Charlie you have to tell Ivy about this"

"No! She can't find out" I roar 

"Don't you yell at me, I'm not the one who's been lying" She fires back

"It'll ruin everything"

"How long have you known?"

"Look, Pip-"

"How long have you known!" She yells

"3 months"

"3 months! Charlie if you don't tell her next time you see her I will"

"Piper, you will not do anything"

"Yes I will, I don't care what you say you can't stop me"

"Stop you what Piper?" A beautiful voice asks from behind her, we freeze, and turn around,

"Umm, hi mum, didn't know you were coming home" Piper says nervously

"Well here I am" she shifts her attention to me " Charlie, my dear boy, what are you stopping your sister from doing?" 

"He doesn't want to tell Ivy about this" Piper chucks the files to our mother who catches them with ease, her lips form a thin line and she lets out a sigh and sits them on the table.

"We need to talk"

"Yes, we do, mother"
