Finding that you actually couldn't return to sleep after that incident, you grabbed Heart's recipe book again. There wasn't anything else for you to read, and your mind refused to slip into unconsciousness. Thus, your course of action lasted until your door open, and Iris announced that the four of your should head out. When she saw you nod in agreement, she stepped aside, and permitted Heart into the room. The male stated that Diamond was waiting by the wagon and horses before the blue-haired male picked up your pack for you.

He went to help you get out of bed as well, but you ignored him. Once you had your feet over the side of the bed, you looked around for your shoes, but saw them absent from the room. Understanding your confusion, he explained that they were in your pack before asking if you wanted the same pair of shoes. Knowing that you would have some difficulty tying the laces on your tennis shoes, you opted for your pair of black flip-flops. After he handed them to you, you placed them on your feet and got off the bed.

With that, he swung the pack over his left shoulder and kept a close watch on you. Iris simply smiled at you on the way out of the inn, and you returned the gesture, however, you wouldn't let that smile foil your cautious mind. Reaching the wagon, Iris climbed up onto the front and took hold of the reins while Diamond seated himself next to her on her right side. Meanwhile, Heart helped you up into the back of the wagon. You would've climbed up yourself, but pulling yourself up into the bed of the wagon with an injured shoulder wouldn't have been a wise idea. After the two of you were seated, Iris started off and back onto the path leading to Mareandaqua.

The three days of travel were quite calm, though; there were the occasional bandit attacks. Granted, if there were an attack, the brothers were stay close to the wagon, so that you wouldn't have to fight any of them off. You still had your hands placed on the hilts of your daggers just in case. Moreover, you would glance over at Iris to inspect her countenance, wanting to see if she wore that calculative look like before. Once again, you saw it. Something was just off about it. If she were determining how to fend off the thieves, it would be different, however you knew that wasn't her intent. Had it been, she would've aided you in the first attack the four of you encountered.

Thankfully, everything worked out in your favor, though. The brothers defeated any who attacked, allowing your wound to heal quicker. Besides the attacks, you managed to extract more information from Iris on the mermaids. Due to her being interrupted on the subject previously, you made sure to gather that information during the three days.

Apparently, based on the facts she told you, the mermaids weren't too far from the island. In fact they lived near one of the rock formations around the island. Iris explained that there was a cave within that rock structure, with the cave being their favorite place to stay. When you asked how she knew this, she just stated that everyone on the island of Hanec knew of the mermaids. Sighing, due to her simple answer, you just thanked her for the information and returned to resting in the back of the wagon.

As for the brothers, they remained continually watchful of the girl. Whichever brother was at the front with Iris would always keep their right hand on the hilt of their weapon, ready to strike within a moment's notice. Concerning the one that would sit in the back with you, they would seat themselves right next to you while their gaze remained fixed on the girl. It was obvious that Iris noticed their behavior, and you could tell how uncomfortable she felt by it. This made you slightly sympathetic towards what she was experiencing, since the brothers' gazes still unnerved you at times.

Furthermore, when either brother sat next to you in the back, they would check your shoulder and ask if you were doing okay. It was quite tiresome after a time, having to answer the same question with the same answer every ten minutes it seemed. Of course, you were appreciative of their concern, granted you didn't voice that gratitude. Still, you wished them to stop. It was like having a child ask the common question of, "Are we there yet?" Despite your wariness of Iris, you were grateful for the quiet moments when she would tend to your injury. After that incident with Diamond, you made sure that it was Iris helping you and not one of the brothers.

There were a few times on the trip, though, that were quite uncomfortable. These consisted of when the wagon would hit a rock, run over a small ditch, or go over a bump. Every time something of this nature occurred, you were lifted a bit off the bed of the wagon for less than second before hitting the wooden base again. This small amount of time was enough to cause your shoulder to hit one of the crates behind you, causing a brief shockwave of pain to go through your body. In these instances you bit the inside of one of your cheeks, so as not to wince, lest the brothers ask that question again.

When you reached the city, you mentally jumped for joy at the thought of being off the wagon and on the next step of your journey. As the wagon pulled through the seaside city, you glanced around at the scenery. You looked at pink and beige cobblestone paths, which led throughout the city. Moreover, you noticed that all the buildings seemed to be one-story. These were all built with various stones, which were most likely from the surrounding shore area. Likewise, these stones were placed atop one another with mortar.

There was one building, which was taller than the others. This probably served as the town hall. It was two stories and had a large tower connected to its right side, which had a large brass bell at the top. Besides the buildings, there were wooden stalls with overhangs in the colors of salmon pink, medium green and pale blue. People stood behind their shops while customers looked here and there, purchasing the things they desired. You were quite glad to see that this place wasn't nearly as busy as Generadeneeranovab. In fact the streets had quite an abundance of space to move around. There weren't any crowds, and you could hear the ocean waves close by. The scent of salt was easily discernible among the aromas of freshly baked bread and other food products. Blue filled the sky above while seagulls flew overhead along with a few pelicans.

Soon, though, the wagon had rid through the city, which was surprisingly smaller than you expected, and stopped at the docks. Iris halted the wagon in front of one of the wooden ships. Red sails decorated the masts, mizzen, bowsprit and jibboom of the ship while black and red paint covered the exterior of the sailing craft. Cannons could be seen poking out of the gunport. On the figurehead the image of a phoenix was beautifully carved. Having stopped the wagon, a man, with a bald head, came over, as his orange eyes looked up at the wagon and the four of you. He wore attire different from what you commonly saw among the Dalorian people. Covering him was a simple beige vest, which revealed his toned chest, while red leather pants covered his legs. Cuffed brown boots went over his feet, as a brown leather belt held dual pistols. His gaze locked onto Iris before a smile pulled at his lips.

"Welcome back, Iris. I trust you want a ride over, though, who are these other three?" the man questioned, as his eyes scanned over the brothers and you.

"Ah, no need to worry Daren. They're foreigners, wishing to reach the island. I thought I would give them a lift," she replied, smiling at the man, who stood at a height of six feet and two inches.

"Understood, then go on board and pay the Captain. She'll be happy to see you again."

Not a moment later, the wagon moved and boarded the ship. You couldn't help but notice the strange look on the man's face. The smile that once graced his face had disappeared and been replaced by one of sorrow. This look was directed at you and you alone. It was strange to say the least, and you couldn't make sense of it, but something was obviously amiss. A bad feeling began to develop in the pit of your gut, as you turned your attention away.

Once the wagon was directed to the proper place on the ship, you all proceeded to get off of it. Heart took your pack while Diamond held theirs. Iris directed you three to follow her towards the cabin on the stern of the ship. Before she could open the painted black door, which had designs of phoenixes carved into it, it opened from the inside.

Upon the door doing so, a woman of about five feet and eight inches walked out. Her short bleached-blonde hair was combed back while her orange eyes surveyed the four of you. Red feather earrings draped from both of her ears, as a red ruffled blouse covered her torso. Black leather gloves went over her hands while her long black coat most likely concealed several guns. A cutlass, with a sterling silver guard and red grip, lay exposed at her left hip. Red leather pants covered her legs and cuffed black boots went over her feet.

"Iris! Good to see you again. I trust you made another profit at the market," the woman exclaimed cheerily, as she clapped Iris on the right shoulder.

"Yes, and I brought a few guests with me that wish to visit the island. Of course, I also brought the fee for riding on your ship," Iris replied, pulling out a few silver coins.

It was really quite fortunate that this world utilized the same currency as the brothers'. Granted, they also used bronze and gold. Regardless, the woman took the coins and placed them into one of her inner coat pockets. She turned her attention onto the brothers and you before a smile stretched across her lips.

"Welcome aboard the Feathered Ensnarer," she announced, as she extended out her right arm in a sweeping motion.
