Chapter 15: Sorry

I awake to the sound of someone singing. I slide out of the bed and pad into the kitchen. Aurora is standing at the oven stirring something while wiggling her hips and singing.

"Having fun?" I ask with a smile. She jumps and spins around to face me, a big grin on her face. She continues to sing as she she makes her way over to me, only stopping when she gets to me and kisses me.

"What was that for? Not that I'm complaining." I manage to say when she pulls away, still smiling.

"I got a text this morning."

"Oh, from who?"

"Casey and your mom."

"What did they say? Did they threaten you? If they did, I'll-"

"Wait a minute, Jake! I haven't told you what they said to me." She's still smiling so that eases me a little but I'm still a bit wary.

"What did it say?"

"It said, 'We're very sorry. We've put some money into both your bank accounts. Tell Jake we love him. Please. We won't bother you again. We're moving to Spain.' That was it." Aurora was grinning like a Cheshire cat. Cute.

"That's brilliant news." I say with a smile. It is brilliant news, I just don't know if they're going to stay away forever though.
