Ch 9

It was Emma's birthday party and I was talking to Ethan when I noticed Melanie walk into the back yard with her arm looked with a tall handsome guy. I was hurt she didn't mention that she was bringing a date I wonder if that was Jess. I looked between both of them, well I guess they made a good couple. Ethan said a stupid joke, so I laughed so he wouldn't notice that I wasn't paying attention to him. I saw Emma and called her over "Hey Emma come over here." She walked over to Ethan and I "Hey what's up?" I gave her pleading eyes and she knew I didn't want to deal with Ethan right now. "Nothing much how are you enjoying your party?" she smiled and turned to Ethan "Well Ethan I feel like dancing so I'm gona barrow Jackie to dance with me." with that we were off to the makeshift dance floor.



"So why did you want to get away from Ethan?" we began to dance and she began to follow my gaze. She had a huge smile on her face "I don't get why you don't just give up your whole being single grow some balls and tell Melanie that you like her." I rolled my eyes "I don't want to tell her for the simple reason that she brought a date that happens to be a guy and I want to be single." she smirked and rolled her eyes "Ok whatever, if you want to be single then stop obsessing about Melanie." she had a point "Fine" As we were dancing, from the corner of my eye I saw Melanie with the guy she had her arm locked with and a hot brunette in a black dress looking in our direction. "Hey Em how about we go find out who are the people that are with Melanie." Emma shook her head up and down, so we made our way to them.



It looked like Melanie was surprised that we were walking towards them. As we reached them I wanted to speak but nothing came out thankfully Emma spoke "Hey Melanie enjoying the party so far?" Melanie smiled at her "Yeah, I want you guys to meet my best friend and her fiancé." as soon as I heard her say that I felt a huge smile grow on my face. Melanie turned to her friends then pointed to Emma "Jess, Eric this is the birthday girl Emma. Emma this is Jess and her fiancé Eric." they all shook hands then Melanie and I locked eyes for a split second then turned to her friends "Jess, Eric this is Jackie, Jackie this is Jess and Eric." I shook Eric's hand first then Jess. Jess had a huge smile on her face "I've heard so much about you." I was curious to know what things I arched a brow, I glanced at Melanie and noticed she was blushing. Jess giggled nervously "Not just about you but of all of you."



I looked at Melanie then turned to Jess and smile "Well I hope it was all good stuff." Jess shook her head "Of course it has all been good." I smiled "Well I'm glad to hear." then Emma chirped in "So Jess when's the wedding?" Jess looked to her fiancé Eric then back to Emma and smiled "We decided on the first week of June so it's gona be on the 7th." Emma smiled "That's cool, do you know the location yet?" this time it was Eric's turn to answer the question "Her and Melanie have narrowed it down to either a beach or vineyard wedding. I honestly don't mind which one they choose as long as I get to marry this beautiful girl I'm happy." that earned an awe from the three girls, I just thought that was cheesy. After that we went to sit at a table where Maddie and Alex joined and they started talking about the wedding. I didn't feel like hearing anymore wedding talk so I got up "Well I'm gona go get something to drink do any of you guys want anything?" All the girls shook their heads no.



As I was about to walk away Eric got up "Do you mind if I join you?" I smiled at him and shook my head "No not at all." poor guy is probably tired of hearing the girls talk about the wedding. As we reached the bar I began to order my drink "I'll have a bottle of water and he will have a..." I looked to Eric "I'll have a beer." with that the bartender got our drinks. I wanted to know how long he has known Melanie "So how long have you known Melanie?" he smiled at me and I got to admit he had a sexy smile "Well I have known both Jess and Melanie since we were freshmen in high school." dam that's a long time "So I'm going to assume that you and Jess are high school sweethearts?" he shook his head "Yeah but Jess and I didn't start dating until Jr year. That's when our little group stared dating each other. Jess and I, Melanie and my best friend Seth, and our friends Sophia and Brandon. Out of our group Jess and I have been together the longest." now I was curious to know how long Melanie dated this Seth guy and was he going to attend the wedding.



"Really how long were the rest together? Was it weird when they broke up?" he thought about it for a bit "Um well Sophie and Brandon dated for three years so when they broke up it really wasn't that weird because we all were in collage so we wouldn't see much of each other. But when Melanie and Seth broke up it was a bit weird. The girls where obviously on Melanie's side and I honestly was to but Seth was my best friend so I couldn't take sides. They were together for about a year and a half, then two weeks after prom she found out that he was cheating on her so she dumped him." I couldn't help but get mad who in their right mind cheat on Melanie "What an asshole." Eric laughed "Same reaction the girls had." I wanted to know if that asshole was going to the wedding.



"So is he going to be at the wedding?" he shook his head "Yeah he's my best friend so he's going to be my best man. Jess asked Melanie if she was cool with it seeing as how she's the maid of honor. Melanie said she was fine with it that what happen between them was in high school, and even if she wasn't cool with it she would suck it up because its our day not hers." I smiled at that "That so sounds like what Melanie would say." he laughed "Yeah, I also think is has to do with her liking somebody. Jess didn't say who it was just that she really is into this person." great just what I wanted to hear. She likes some guy and even of I chose to not stick with my being single for two years and tell Melanie, it won't make a difference because she already has her eyes on a guy. Why did I have to like a straight girl. After that Eric and I started talking about sports and movies. Eric is a cool guy and easy to get along with.



While we were talking Jess came to borrow Eric to dance with. I went to the girls and heard Maddie asking Melanie something about glow sticks."What glow sticks talking about?" Maddie turned to me "Melanie here wanted glow sticks so that guest could use to dance to electronic music." I turned to Melanie raise a brow at her and smiled "Like a rave?" she blushed "Well its fun to dance and like using the glow sticks, I'm actually good at it." I giggled "Your like a raver?" she giggled and playfully hit my shoulder "I'm not a raver I just like glow sticking." I smiled at her "Well I have never done glow sticking so your gona have to teach me." she got a hug smile on her face "Well I'll be more than happy to show you." I smirked at her grabbed her hand and I felt the tingles, I led her to the dance floor "Ok then show me right now." she looked at me unfazed "Like I said I would be happy to show you but this isn't the right type of music." with that I walked to the DJ and asked him to play some electric music.



I walked back to Melanie and smirked at her again "No excuses I believe this is the right type of music." she smiled, put the glow sticks between her fingers and did her thing. She didn't lie she was good and it was sexy. I couldn't help but be mesmerized by how she was dancing. Once she proved that she was good she stopped and smiled at me "So are you just going to stand there watching me dance or do you want to learn?" I couldn't help but blush and shook my head no "That's what I thought, but I wouldn't have mined you watching me dance." she smirked and gave me instructions on how to hold the glow sticks and move my hands, the basics. I couldn't help but smile and think about the last thing she said. Was she purposely hitting on me or just playing around.



The rest of the night was fun we danced, talked, and joked around. We all hit it off with Jess and Eric. What threw me by surprise was the fact that Emma really wasn't flirtatious with me like other times, I wonder why. I think I'm going to have to asker tomorrow. Melanie left at the same time Jess and Eric did because Melanie insisted on them staying at her place. She didn't want then to have to drive 1hr and 20 min back to Santa Cruz. That night I went to sleep thinking about Melanie like I have been since I met her. The only difference about then and now is that I have pictures of her and I from tonight and I'm not obsessing about them.






A month Later



Melanie has been over a bit more, her and the girls have gotten way more closer since Emma's party. Also since Emma's party Emma hasn't really flirted or been touchy with me. I asked her about it and she said that everything is fine and she really hasn't noticed. The flirting with Emma has stopped but the occasional flirting with Melanie has begun. I had called my parents to let them know we were not going to be able to visit on the 6th because I had nobody to cover me. It was the same weekend that football season started and both Giants and 49ers are playing at home. I choses to cover the Giants and I was glad I did there was almost a perfect game, the pitcher needed one more out but he gave up a single. Over all it was a good weekend the Giants split the series and the 49ers won the first game of the season.



Right now we are on a flight to visit our parents. By we I'm including Melanie, Jess and Eric were going to be busy so Melanie was going to be alone. The girls found out and insisted on her coming along. They decided that tomorrow we are going to a party old friends from high school are having. So now everyone took a half day of work so we could spent time with our parents today instead of tomorrow. By 1pm we were on the plane and on our way to our parents. This is going to be a fun weekend! Please not the sarcasm. Not only is the girl I like going to be staying with us at our house but I'm most likely going to see some of my ex's at the party. When we land and claim our bags we make our way to meet my dad. It was his turn to pick us up and it's Maddie's parents turn to bring us to the air port. When we reach him we all say our hello's and introduce him to Melanie.



When we got home my mom was already starting on dinner. I dropped my bag on the floor and went to hug my mom "Hey mom, why are you making a lot of food?" she hugged me "Well because your brother and the kids are coming over for dinner." wow it's going to be a pact house. Then it was Alex's turn to say hello to my mom and introduce Melanie. "Hey mom, this is our friend and my co-worker Melanie." Melanie smiled and extended her hand to my mom, and my mom smiled and extended her hand as well. "Its a pleasure to meet you Mrs. Campos, thank you for having me over." my mom smiled "No the pleasure is all mine, and we are more than welcome to have you here for the weekend." I looked at my mom "Well I'm gona take my bag to my room." then I turned Alex "Do you want to show Melanie were she is sleeping or should I?" Alex smiled "Um you show her I wanted to talk to mom for a bit, oh and have Melanie stay in Raquel's old room." I turned to Melanie "Shall we?" Melanie had a huge smile on her face and shook her head yes.



We went upstairs and I stopped in front of our rooms. Since she was staying in my sisters old room she was staying across from mine. I opened the door to the room Melanie was sleeping in "This is your room, go ahead and get comfortable if you need anything my room is right across from yours." She smiled walked in and out her bag on the bed. "Thanks for showing me to my room." I was about to turn and leave when Melanie put a hand on my shoulder "Would it be ok if I check out your room?" I smirked at her, she blushed a bit "Not for that reason, it's just that you said that your room back home is a replica of your room here. So I want to know if its true." I smiled "Sure" we both made our way to my room. Melanie looked around with a huge smile on her face. "Well it's the same color scheme, same wall with tree pictures, but there is a difference." I looked around and I already knew what she was talking about. "Instead of having a whole wall of pictures of the city you have a whole wall dedicated to the Giants, you have a few pictures of the city over your bed, and if I'm correct you don't have a guitar in your room back home." I was shocked she had memorized my room "Wow I'm surprised, and your right. The pictures of the city over my bed would remind me of were I wanted to live. I don't have a wall dedicated to the Giants back home because I'm not a teenager anymore and because the whole attic is dedicated to the Giants. Also I do have a guitar in my room back home. The sufferance is that I don't have it out in a stand, I have it in a case in my closet."



She smiled "Well I like your room as a teenager as well as an adult. But I think I would like your adult room more if you had your guitar out on display."she made her way to my room door. Before she walked out she turned and in a hot sultry voice spoke "I find it sexy when a person could play an instrument, especially a guitar." with that she winked at me and she went to her room. God Melanie is so sexy especially when she flirts with me. I smiled as I put my clothes away and when I was done I decided to play with my guitar. I was playing rock songs then all of a sudden I started playing Taylor Swifts- Crazier and even sang along. I think some of the lyrics that I like currently are "You make me crazier, crazier,Feels like I'm falling and I'm lost in your eyes You make me crazier" next thing I know there is a knock on my door. "Come in"



I turn to see who knocked and it was Melanie with an amused smile "Alex asked me to come and tell you that your brother and his family are here." I smiled at her "Thanks I'll be down in a bit." she still had that amused smile on her face. I arched my eyebrow at her as if saying what. "I didn't know that you could sing. What else am I gona learn about you this weekend?" I walked to her and stopped a few inches away from her. I locked my eyes with hers "There are many things you still don't know about me." then I leaned into her ear "Maybe you will learn more this weekend." it looked like she shivered as I spoke into her ear. I smiled at her reaction and pulled away. "Come on let's go" with that we were off down stairs.



When I reached the bottom of the stairs I was greeted by two year old nephew JJ, running to me screaming my name. I picked him up and hugged him "Hola hermoso (Hi Handsome)" he pulled my face to his and gave me a kiss "Hi Tia Jackie" then the rest of my nieces and nephews came and said hi, hugged and kissed me. Then I went to say hi to my brother and his wife. We all sat at the table and they began asking Melanie questions to get to know her. After that my parents talked about there vacation and we all fell into easy conversation. After dinner we all went into the living room and continued talking. The kids stayed at the table and began playing Monopoly. JJ wanted to be with me so he made me play cars with him and I didn't mind, I love playing with all the kids. It was around 10pm when my brother and his family left. I wasn't tired yet and I was craving a Starbucks. I asked my parents if they wanted a coffee before I asked Alex and Melanie. I went into the kitchen because Alex and Melanie offered to do the dishes. "Hey do any of you want a Starbucks? I was craving one so I'm gona go before they close." they both shook their heads yes.



I was on grabbing the keys to my car that I keep here when Alex spoke up. "Are you gona take mom or dads car?" I laughed at her question "No we are gona go in my baby. I didn't drive it at all last time we came so its time hey go's out for a drive." Melanie gave me a questioning look "Its my 68 Chevy Camaro that my dad gave me and I keep it here." Melanie let out a giggle "Wow I didn't know you had a baby." I rolled my eyes "Well it was my dads baby and now it's mine and I care for it. Like I said there are many things you don't know about me." With that we went to Starbucks, I got my parents a vanilla bean frap, Alex got a vanilla iced coffee, Melanie got a Carmel frap, while I was the only one that got a hot drink I ordered a white mocha expresso. When we got home neither one of us were tired so we just watched Total Recall on tv. Alex sat on the love seat an put her legs up. Melanie and I sat on the long sofa, I notice that Melanie sat right next to me "Jackie do you mind if I lean on you while we watch the movie?" of course I wasn't going to deny her "Yeah no problem."



In the last month that Melanie has been flirtatious with me this is the first time we actually make contact like this. I decided fuck it she is leaning on my might as well be more comfortable I put my arm over her shoulder. It felt so perfect like I'm ment to hold her like this and the tingling sensation was multiplied by like 50. I glanced down at her and she gave me a huge smile and I returned it back. From the corner of my eye I saw Alex with a huge knowing smile. As soon as the movie was over we all went to our rooms. So far I'm glad Melanie came down with us.



The next day we had breakfast and hung out at the house until 11am, Alex wanted to go to the mall so the three of us went to the mall. I'm not a big mall person so within an hour I got frustrated. Then we ran into an old team mate, I talked to her for a bit and I found out that she was going to be at the party as well. We spent about two and a half hours at the mall, if you ask me that was way too long. After the mall we grabbed some lunch at In N Out then went home. The three of us decided it was still to early to get ready for the party, so we played Mario party for about an hour and a half, then went off to get ready.



I don't feel like I need to impress anybody so I just wore some charcoal grey skinny jeans, an ivory lose blouse, black flats, and wore my hair down in lose curls. I kept my make up basic, went for a natural look. After I got ready I went down stairs to wait for Alex and Melanie. I noticed that my parents were getting ready to head out. "A dónde van? (Where are you going?)" my mom turned to me "Your uncle Ralph is having a little get together, I didn't tell you because Alex said you guys had plans for tonight." I shook my head "Yeah we are going to a party old friends from high school are throwing." my mom smile "Make sure Alex doesn't drink to much and have fun we will see you guys tomorrow morning." With that my parents left. As I was about to turn on the TV Melanie made her way down stairs. She looked amazingly hot she wore a perfect little black dress, red heals, simple make up with smokey eyes, lip gloss on her perfect pink lips and had her hair straight down. I looked into her eyes "You really look hot, are you trying to get lucky tonight?" she giggled "Depends if the person is hot." she gave me a wink at the end of the sentence.



After that Alex came down she kept it simple she wore a blue flowed sun dress with flats, hair straight, simple make up with red lipstick. Alex looked between both of us then focused on Melanie "Dam you look hot, trying to get laid tonight?" Melanie and I busted out laughing then Melanie spoke "Jackie literally asked the same question, now I know what you meant when you told me you and Jackie think the same most of the time." I looked at both of them "Now that we established that are you guys ready to go?" they both spoke in unison "Yeah" with that we were off to pick up Maddie and Emma. Emma had the same thought as Alex and wore a sundress while Maddie thought like me and dressed more casual.



By the time we got to the party it was already 9:30 and a lot of people were already here. As soon as we walked in Maddie and Emma went to say hi to old friends while Alex, Melanie, and I looked around. I looked at both Alex and Melanie "Do you guys want something to drink?" Alex shook her head "Yeah, just grab me a beer for now." I looked to Melanie "I'll take the same." I looked around and noticed the drinks were in the kitchen. "Ok I'm gona go to the kitchen to bring you your drinks I'll be back in a minute." with that I was off. When I grabbed two beers and turned around a 5'5 tan brunette, with brown eyes was standing behind me. I recognized her right away It was my first girlfriend Erica. This wasn't good last time I saw her she made a big scene I front of my ex Brian about how she wanted me back. She gave me a flirtatious smile "Hey Jackie I didn't know you were gona be here."
