Melanie's Point of View

I was on my way down to Santa Cruz to meet up with my best friend Jess. I couldn't help but think about Jackie wanting to know that I was going to meet up with a friend. It seemed like she got jealous and I couldn't help but smile at that. The whole 1hr and 20 min ride down to Santa Cruz I was trying to sort the feelings I was developing for Jackie. I met Jess at a small café not to far away from the boardwalk. When I walked in Jess was already there with a mug in her hand waving at me as if I couldn't see her. When I got to the table she got up and we embraced each other in a hug.

"Hey Melanie what's with this rocker look your going for?" I arched my brow then realized she was talking about my outfit, well not mine but Jackie's. "Oh yeah this isn't mine I stayed at a friends house I she let me borrow clothes otherwise I wouldn't be here on time." I borrowed a Paramore t-shirt knowing its one of Jackie's favorite bands, some dark blue skinny jeans that are a little ripped on the knees and a lot longer considering Jackie is taller than me. I paired it with some combat boots that covered the pants being to long and a leather jacket. All her clothes smelled like cherry blossoms just like her when I hugged her, granted she was sweaty but you were still able to smell the cherry blossom.

"So tell me what I missed while I was taking a well deserved vacation before planing my wedding." I looked at her "Umm well let's see my team and I are working on a house and I have the new girl on my team her name is Alex and we have became friends, Tyler and I broke up, hum lets see..... oh yeah I met Alex's sister and I think I might have a thing for her. You know same old boring stuff." Jess had a shocked face "Wait you and Tyler broke up and you might have feelings for a girl." I shook my head yes. "Ok Melanie lets start with you and Tyler breaking up." I shrugged my shoulders "There really isn't much to say actually it turned out that he was a total douche bag, a cheating one at that." she looked at me with sad eyes "I'm sorry to hear that how do you feel?" I shrugged again "Well I was totally fine with it I mean yeah at first I was hurt but then got over it the next day. I guess I always knew he wasn't the one."

She raised a brow at me "Ok now tell me about this girl that you might or possibly have a thing for. What is her name, how old is she, what dose she look like, what is she like, how did you meet, you know stuff like that." I smiled just thinking about her. "Well her name is Jackie I met her at her birthday party last week. She just turned 24, she's Bi, she's about 5"8 long brown hair, big beautiful forest green eyes, cute nose, nice pink lips, and fit. She is Mexican American but doesn't look Mexican at all, neither does Alex her sister. She's a photographer, I think she's funny, she could cook, and she's sarcastic. She doesn't drink, she has never been single for longer than a month, lives with her sister and her two best friends and it feels like I have known her my whole life."

Jess smiled at me "Ok what makes you think that you have a thing for her? even though I know you do by that goofy look on your face." I rolled my eyes at her "I don't know from the first moment I saw her I was drawn, I felt the need to know who she was, when we touch hands I feel a tingling sensation run down my body, every time she smiles, laughs, or giggles brings a smile to my lips." she giggled at me "Well making you smile isn't that hard seeing as how you smile a lot , tell me what do you plan on doing about these feelings of yours?" I let out a deep sigh "Well I plan on doing nothing. I have only known her for a week, she's my co-workers sister, she is not doing the whole relationship thing right now and let's not forget the fact that I'm straight barely starting to come to terms that I have feelings for a girl."

Jess arch a brow at me "So she's just looking to hook up? Wouldn't that be a perfect opportunity for you to see if you could be with a girl?" I gave her a serious expression "First of all I never said that she is just looking for hook ups. Second I think that if I was really into her I wouldn't doubt myself in that department." Jess still kept her brow arched "If she's not looking just for hook ups then why isn't she doing the whole relationship thing?" it's funny how I asked that same question to Alex when she told me that her sister was not doing the whole relationship thing fallowed by did she go through a horrible break up.

"According to Alex, Jackie has been in a relationship since she was 13 years old, the longest she has been single between her old and new relationship is a month. So after she ended her two and a half year relationship she decided to be single for at least 2 years. Before you even ask she has never been through a bad break up, apparently she is the one that always ends the relationships she has never been dumped." Jess looked like she was lost in thought before speaking "So how long has she been single?" I remembered what Emma had said the day before of her being proud of Jackie for being two weeks away from completing two months. "In two weeks she is going to complete two months, and her friends and some of her family don't think she will last two years because she's used to always being in a relationship."

"Well I say just spend more time around her and make a move when you are sure with yourself and have no doubts. By the way I would like to meet the girl that has my best friend thinking about girls." I playfully hit her shoulder "First of all I'm not thinking about girls I'm just thinking of one girl. Second of all your cool with me wanting to be with a girl?" Jess laughed at me "Obviously whatever makes you happy and who ever makes you feel that whether it be a guy or girl I'm totally supportive." I was glad she said that. I didn't feel like talking about my love life anymore.

"So enough about my love life how was your vacation?" she smiled "Well Hawaii was fun all I really did was relax on the beach or in the hotels pool so it was just as I expected." I looked baffled "So you flew thousands of miles to just lay on a beach and not go out and do fun things? You might as well just done that here and saved that money." she giggled "I couldn't do that here because I wouldn't be able to relax. Me having the ocean separate me from home allowed me not to be bugged." I saw her point "True so have you given it thought as to where and the date for the wedding?"

"Well I was thinking along the lines of early June. I'm not sure where yet I was hoping that the maid of honor would help me narrow the location. Which is the main reason that I wanted to meet up with you. Melanie we have best friends since middle school and it only seems fitting would you be my maid of honor?" I was shocked I thought she would ask a family member not me. "Are you sure you want me to be your maid of honor?" she giggled "No I want the waitress to be my maid of honor, of course I want you." I had a huge smile on my face "I will be honored." Jess and I spent a good hour talking about her wedding, then I decided to call it a day and drove back home thinking about both the wedding and Jackie.

Next Day

Alex and I went out to lunch together, and she told me that Emma's birthday was coming up soon. "So Emma's birthday is coming up on August 9th and it lands on a Friday. We still don't know if we should throw her a party at home or at a club. What would you think is better." I was shocked that she would even ask my opinion I barely got to know her more this weekend and its not enough to know what she would like. "Well I don't really know a lot about Emma to know what she would like. Have you asked Jackie and Maddie what they think? I mean they know her way better."

"Well Maddie and I are the ones that always plan for Emma's birthday because Jackie doesn't really like to deal with party planning. So we really don't ask her, we just tell her what we need her to do and she does it." I arched my brow "So your saying that just because Jackie doesn't like planing she won't give an opinion on the location?" Alex shook her head "Yup because when we would ask her her answer was always "well I'm pretty sure any wear will be fine" so we just don't ask." Jackie and Emma are so close I figured she would have some say in her best friends party. "What dose Emma like? Dose she like big gatherings or small ones?" Alex started thinking about it.

"Well she's a lot like Jackie in the sense that they don't mind small gatherings, but Emma really likes to party and have fun. The last two we planed we went to Vegas and went back home to celebrate with family and friends. She really liked both so we don't know what to do for this one." I thought about it for a minute before I came up with an idea. "I got it! you said that she likes small gatherings but likes to party so why don't we have a little bit of both. The party could be at your house and it could be fixed into an outside club. You could have a DJ, and bartender while still having no more than like 50 people or less to have a small gathering effect." Alex got a huge smile on her face "That's a good idea, 3 weeks is more than enough time to get a good DJ, bartender, and decorations. When tell Maddie she is gona love you more. I swear she kept going on and on that you are a perfect addition to our group."

I giggled "Are you serious?" Alex giggled as well "Yeah, but don't think the rest of us don't think so because we do. The main reason Maddie is happy is because there has never been a ginger in our group. I mean we have a few red head friends but none of them really click as being considered part of our group." I couldn't help but laugh "Well Maddie is going to be disappointed that I'm not an actual ginger." Alex giggled "Trust me she's fine with it. Jackie told her you are not a natural red head and Maddie just shrugged it off. She said that we just have to take as much pictures of us as a group while your still a red head." The rest of our lunch we spent talking about the party and random topics.

3 Weeks Later (Emma's party)

The three weeks went by fast I would spent time during the week helping Alex and Maddie plan the party at their house and the weekend with Jess planing the wedding. Today is Emma's party and I asked Alex if it was cool if I invited Jess and her fiancé and she said it was cool. Jess is super excited to finally get to meet the girl that helped me realize and accept that I was Bi. Over the weeks that I came over almost everyday I got to spend more time with Jackie and I realized that its not just a crush but that I like her. The only difference is that I haven't told Jackie or anyone for that matter other than Jess. Jess told me to just tell Jackie but I told her there was two problems. One being I don't know if Jackie even likes me like that, two if she did I think it would be selfish of me to try and ruin her attempt at being single.

It was already 9pm and people started showing up. When I got a text from Jess that they were out in the front and she wanted me to come and get them. When I got them Jess told me she had to pee so I showed her where the restroom was at and told her that Eric her fiancé would wait for her out in the back yard. As we made our way outside I linked my arm with Eric, it's something I'm used to doing when I go out with him and Jess, I'm one side of him while Jess is topically on the other side. As Eric and I made our way into the backyard I caught a glimpse of Jackie and she was looking between Eric and I. For a split second it looked like she was hurt but then shook it off and started laughing at whatever the person she was talking to her said.

Eric turned to me "I'm gona go get a drink do you want one?" I shook my head "Nah I'm good but you should get one for Jess I'm pretty sure she might want one?" he smiled at me "Dam you know Jess so well." with that he walked to the bar. Next thing I know I feel an arm over my shoulder, I turn to see who it was, I realized it was Jess. Jess whispers in my ear "So who is the famous Jackie that you are always talking about." I rolled my eyes and looked to where I last saw Jackie and she wasn't there. I was looking all around when I spotted her on the dance floor with Emma. I looked to Jess "The tall brunette with the white dress." Jess shook her head "I'll give it to you she is hot, but who is that girl that's dancing all up on her?" even though I know there is nothing between them I always get jealous when I see them flirt or all touchy.

"That's her best friend and the birthday girl Emma." as soon as I told her she had an O expression. I've told Jess about Jackie's relationship with Emma and she knows I get jealous. She kinda thinks its funny because I've never been a jealous person but here I am jealous of Emma. Next thing I know Eric is at our side with two drinks in his hand "So what are we staring at?" I had to think of something to say quick, because Eric doesn't know anything about Jackie. "Oh Jess was asking me about the birthday girl and I was just pointing out who she was." I wasn't completely lying I did point out the birthday girl, even though Jess wanted to know who was the girl I liked. "So which one is the birthday girl?" I pointed towards Emma "The brunette with the blue dress dancing." Next thing I know I see Jackie and Emma making their way towards us.
