*FYI, 'boot' IS THE IRISH EQUIVALENT OF 'trunk'*

*Trinity's PoV*

We walked out of my house without saying a word to my mum. She remained in the kitchen silently preparing her breakfast and probably planning her next trip to get away from her responsibilities, like always.

I began to make my way to my car, but Louis had obviously planned otherwise, as he walked towards his own. "We can take my car," he said, continuing on his path to his Audi. I furrowed my brows in confusion.

I was pleasantly surprised when Louis strolled around to the passenger door, my bag in hand, and opened the door for me. I muttered a small 'Thanks' and blushed, as I slotted into the comfortable leather interior.

I heard the boot slam close, indicating that he had dropped my bag in there, and then felt Louis slide into the driver's seat beside me. Without a word, he started the engine and we were on our way out of my driveway.

I couldn't help but think about my circumstances during the drive. I knew I shouldn't over-think things, but I let my forehead rest against the cool glass pane of the window and I let my brain run wild.  I wasn't upset by my relationship with my family, but I was, perhaps, a little bit jealous of what other people had. It didn't affect me too much though, because I'd grown up from the age of 3 living with my mum and barely seeing my dad. I was used to it. It was a messy divorce and my mum wasn't too keen on letting my dad see me, even though I would rather spend time with him than my mum. Come to think of it, from what Louis told me about his relationship with his parents, which was basically non-existent, I didn't really have a right to complain.

As if reading my mind, Louis snapped me out of my thoughts by reaching over with one hand and placing his hand on my head, without averting his eyes from the road ahead.

"Don't over-think it too much," he murmured comfortingly.

I was grateful for his kind words, but couldn't help wondering why the hell he had put his hand on the top of my head. I mean, it was slightly weird.

"Um, Louis," I questioned in a high pitched voice, "Why do you have your hand on the top of my head?".

His eyes flickered briefly away from the road and his mouth formed an 'O' shape as he saw that his hand was, indeed, resting on my head.

"Oh," he replied, dropping his arm back to the steering wheel again, his attention now back on the road, "I didn't look because I was driving, I thought that was your shoulder. It was supposed to be comforting but now it's just a litte bit weird, isn't it?"

His face remained straight as he talked, never once changing his expression, which made it even funnier. I burst out laughing, covering my face with my hand, crinkles forming beside my eyes. Soon, he followed my lead and we were both in hysterics as he pulled into the lane that led up to the gates of the house.

All of a sudden, however, his expression fell and the colour drained from his face. The car lurched to a halt and he turned to face me.

"Trinity," he muttered, his face serious, "I need you to get out of this car right now and stay behind the bushes. You see that car up there?", he pointed to a sleek black sedan parked outside the gate, a tall man leaning up against it, "You can't let that guy see you, understand?"

I nodded my head, lost for words, but then opened my mouth to ask about what was happening. However, Louis cut me off before I had even began to speak.

"Go," he said sternly.

I clambered out of the car, taking my place behind the bushes. I heard Louis' car speeding up the lane and couldn't help but lean out ever so slightly to see what was going on, making sure to keep my head still hidden behind the leaves of the plants.

I saw Louis parking his car and climbing out of it, walking over to the man with his hands in his pockets, shoulders upright. The other man stood up from leaning on his car and ambled towards him.

Hushed words were exchanged and I couldn't help but notice that there didn't seem to be a very friendly atmosphere between the two of them.

Soon, the man climbed back into his car and Louis removed his beanie, running his hand through his messy hair. I heard an engine start and I jumped back as far as I could behind the bushes, to avoid being seen by the man as he drove by, at all costs.

Dust was thrown in my face as the car flew by and back out onto the main-road. I stepped out to see Louis walking back down towards me. When he reached me, he took in my appearance from head to toe. "Are you alright?" he asked, the pad of his thumb stroking my cheek. I nodded. "I could ask the same for you," I half-laughed breathily.

A sad sort of half-smile appeared on his face and he took my hand, leading me towards the house.

There was something weird going on, and I was not happy about being kept in the dark.
