Chapter 1: Treat you right

"Hey," I whisper, "Look at me."

She looks up, her mascara running down her face with the tears.

"He's a prick, okay? You'll find someone better." I tell her, pulling her close.

"But what if I don't Jake? I loved him, he loved me. He still does. I just don't know what to do." She whimpers.

"Casey, he beats you. That's not love." I tell her, close to tears myself. She loves someone who beats her. Why can't she love someone who'll treat her like a princess, someone who'll treat her right, someone like me.

"But he doesn't mean it. He just has a short temper, that's all." She sighs.

"Oh Casey. He hits you for hanging around with me, maybe we shouldn't hang out for a while." I mumble. This is killing me.

"Just for a while, okay? Just until he learns to control his temper, I promise." She says, hugging me.

"Let's get those cuts cleaned up." I guide her into the bathroom and start to clean the blood off of her round face. When she's all cleaned up she hugs me goodbye and drives back home. I hope she leaves him soon.
