I sent Layal a text to let her know that I was waiting at her locker. To say that I'm relieved that she's finally back is an understatement. Gabe can finally stop antagonizing me about her absence these past few weeks. I'm not only happy about that, but also at the fact that she is finally single.

Smiling to myself, I couldn't help but plot some ideas that would lead them to each other. I heard Layal's loud shuffling of her feet approach, but come to a halt. I was going to go see what was holding her up, until I heard Gabriel speak.

Crap! I hope he doesn't say anything that'll creep her out. He has a tendency of being extremely impatient when it came to getting what he wants. If he doesn't get it right away, then he'll take it out on his best friend David.

David being the future Beta of the pack and also Gabriel's best friend is the only one who can put some sense into his head once he's gone all psycho. Also, David is the only one from the pack, other than Gabriel's mother, Eric, and myself, who knows the truth behind why Layal was gone.

Replaying that convo with David that I had a few days ago, I couldn't help but chuckle a little.

[Few days ago]

"Yeah, she came on to me as if I was the girl and she was the guy," he scrunched his nose in disgust as he replayed that night of Britney's party. "What was her name again?"

I rolled my eyes, "Hanna."

"She was disturbing I tell ya." He shook his head and made his way towards the back of the pack's house so that no one overheard us. He sat on the west side of the porch that wrapped around the whole house. "But how is she part of the reason why Layal was in the hospital?" He took a seat on one of the chairs and I took one next to him.

I replayed to him what happened the night of Britney's party and the new information that Eric shared with me about Hanna and Nathan having an affair. I wanted to gag from disgust at the part, but David reacted another way.

"Our future Luna was in love with that?" His fists were clinched and his eyes went a shade darker. "Shady ass friends. I don't know what she was doing with them anyway."

"That's why she is locked up in her room and doesn't want to talk to anyone. Her parents, Eric, or Rosa can't get her to come back to school and Gabe is starting to get suspicious. She's too hurt emotionally to go back to school. By the way she would speak about them, seemed like she really loved and trusted them." I was surprised that David didn't react as badly as Luna Black or me for that matter about the future Luna, who happens to be human, being in love with another wolf! "Something was telling me that Nathan knew that she was a mate to an Alpha and not any Alpha but to Gabriel."

"What makes you say that?" David tilted his head to the side wondering.

"It's hard to miss!" I threw my arms in the air helplessly. "Did you not see our pack's symbol is her mark that's on her collarbone indicating that she is a mate of the Alpha of Shadow X's Pack?"

David turned his gaze towards the woods, his mouth slightly open from realization. "She is the future Luna of our pack and you're right, Nathan definitely knew that."

He turned his gaze back at me. "Nathan and Hanna are conspiring against our pack. They definitely knew that Layal was going to be a Luna for our pack and it's hard to deny that they didn't know which pack because our pack is the biggest in the Western Hemisphere." He leaned into his arm and stared back at the woods.
