Chapter 2- Not So Perfect Anymore

"Haylee..." Hunter said. He opened his mouth to say more when Taylor walked over. AKA the school slut. I inwardly sighed as Hunter dropped his arm off my back. "Hey, you're the new kid all the girls are talking about, right?" Taylor said, her boobs almost falling out of her half shirt as she gave him a flirty smile. "Erm.. I guess so?" Hunter looked so uncomfortable, I stifled a laugh at his expression. "I can see why!" She winked, and rolled her eyes up and down him. I felt an unusually strong pang of jealousy shoot though me.

I didn't want her looking at him like that. Standing here with her perfect slut body, looking at him with her slutty eyes, smiling with the slutty smile. Ugh! Okay Haylee, get a hold of yourself... You've just met him for God's sake.

But there was something about him.. It just felt right.

I looked back to them, Taylor was seductively stroking his shoulder. I was surprised to see his attention wasn't on her. It was on me. His eyes begging me to help him. I stifled another laugh. I walked back over and said, "Well, I guess we better get back to working on our scene." "Oh! Let me watch, I'm sure I would be able to help Hunter more than you could." Taylor winked at him again. "Don't you have somewhere to be?" I snapped, "Like, finding some decency and the other half of your shirt?" Even I was surprised by what I had just said. Usually I was nice to everyone (besides Jake of course), and didn't let Taylor get on my nerves. But the way she was all over Hunter was driving me nuts. I heard a few people giggle, and realized that everyone was watching to see Taylor's response. "I.. um.." I guessed I had surprised her too. I smiled and turned my attention back to Hunter. "Are you ready to start our scene again?" He was fighting back laughter and said "Yep," then turned to the rest of the class. "Nothing to see here, move along."

I hadn't even noticed that everyone had still been staring at me, or that Tatlor was no where in sight, she must have stormed off somewhere to bitch about me to her clique. I didn't care. My attention was back on Hunter, and our scene.

When I got back home it was still quiet. Good, Jake is still passed out somewhere from this mornings incident. It was 3:00, and I had an hour and a half until I had to pick Jenna up. I walked to my room sluggishly, I was beginning to feel tired from waking up at 5. I turned on the TV and surfed though the channels until found something to watch. Ugg, I'm so tired. Maybe I can just rest my eyes.....

"Ahh!" I was woken with a pitcher of freezing cold water. "Oh, I'm sorry sweetie. Was that cold?" Jake said, laughing his dumb laugh. "What the hell Jake?!?!" I screamed umping up off my bed. "Did I upset the wittle Princess?" Jake asked in a baby voice. "Fuck off." I snapped, as I started to walk toward the laundry room for dry clothes. Jake grabbed my arm and turned me towards him. I could smell alcohol dripped off his breath and wrinkled my nose. "What was that?" He asked me. I took a breath and looked him in the eyes. "I said fuck off." "Oh Haylee, I'm sorry I upset you hunny." He said as his hold on my wrist grew painfully tight. "Let go off my you filthy pig!" I pulled my hand away and pushed him backward a step. "You fucking brat!" Jake yelled. He pushed me and I fell... hard. He grabbed my shirt and pulled me back to him. "How would you like me to introduce my fist to your face?" He whispered. "If it smells as bad as your breath, it can stay far away from me!" I retorted. Apparently that was the wrong answer. Jake backhanded me across the face. "I guees you're not so perfect anymore, huh Haylee?"

That was the first time he had ever hit me. I gasped at the pain, and Jake pushed me back into my room. "Don't even think of coming out until you have something nice to say sweet-cheeks." He said as he closed my door. After I heard Jake's footsteps up the stairs I started bawling. I looked at my clock. It was 4. I needed to leave now or I would be late for Jenna, and I couldn't let her down. I quickly grabbed a pair of sweatpants and a tank-top off my floor and changed into them. I opened my window and jumped out. Something I was used to doing when Jake was on a rampage. I hopped in my car and drove to Jenna's school.

After driving like a mad women, I arrived right at 4:15. I got out of my car, and walked to the girls locker room. I waited outside of it for a few minutes when a very happy Jenna came out talking with some friends. When she saw me, she quickly said goodbye to her friends and ran over to hug me. "Hi, how'd it go?" I asked her. "It was- Oh my god! What happened to your face Haylee?" she whispered harshly. I had forgotten the bruise on my cheek. "Oh, don't worry about it Jenna. I was taking a nap and I fell off my bed. You know that I move a lot in my sleep." I lied smoothly. "That looks like someone hit you. I know what abuse bruises look like!" she said, looking angry. "Drop it. I'll explain in the car." She didn't respond, but started walking to my car.

We got into the car, and I looked at her. "Tell me about soccer." I said, smiling lightly at her. "Tell me who hit you." she demanded. "Jake..." I said, looking down. "That mother fucking bastard! Beating on your mom isn't enough? He has to hit you too? You're the nicest person in the world! You don't deserve that Hails." She started to cry. I looked at the broken girl beside me and hugged her tight and rubbed her back. "No one does sweetie. One day I'll take you away from here. Far away from your dad, and far away from Jake." I kissed her forehead. "Now tell me about soccer." I waited for her to wipe her tears. "Well...." she giggled. "Tell me!" She blushed and looked down. "There is an assistant coach. And he's super amazingly hot! He has dirty blond ha-"

There was a knock on my car window and we both jumped. I turned and rolled down my window. Who else would be there but Hunter? What is he doing here? I smiled at him "Hey." Jenna was blushing bright red. "Hi," he smiled his dazzling smile. "is Jenna your sister?" he asked. "Oh no. We are just friends, might as well be sister tho." I poked her in the ribs and she giggled. "What are you doing here?" I asked. "Oh, I'm the assistant coach for Jenna's soccer team. She's amazing by the way. Definitely a starter." he wicked at her playfully. Her face was as red as a tomato. "Thanks, Haylee taught me." she muttered. I was laughing hysterically, and Hunter looked me like I was crazy. Once I composed myself I looked at him and said "Um.. Jenna was just telling me about you." I tired to hold in some more laughter. "Ohhhh," he chuckled a deep sexy chuckle. Why is everything about him so perfect? "I see." he said.

He looked at me, his green eyes seemed to be looking at my soul. "I guess I'll see you around more than, huh?" he said "Mhmm." He ran his fingers through his hair. "Maybe you could, um, become an assistant coach too. If you really taught Jenna.. She's amazing." He blushed. I giggled as I said "Yeah, that'd be fun." I smiled. "Well, I better get Jenna home. I don't want her parents to think I'm a bad influence, keeping her out late and all."

"Um, yea. Okay, bye! See you tomorrow." He gave me another dazzling smile then walked away. I sat there wondering if was ever going to get that gorgeous boy out of my head.
