Chapter 39

Right now Y/N, Jihyo and Mingyu were called by the drugs department team to have a meeting with them. Minji and Sua explained how there's a very important case going on and that they're going on an undercover mission next week to find the drug lords that are involved in the case. The three friends were asked to join since they're short on people in the drugs department.

"It will be a dangerous mission so it's very crucial that all of you prepare very well." Minji told them. "In fact I want all of you to come talk to me before the mission so I can check how well you know everything about the case. We cannot afford to screw this up, do you understand?" It seems like Minji is in a bad mood today. They can all tell by the way she behaves. She's been acting harsh for the entire meeting and the only thing she does is scolding them when they haven't even done anything wrong. Yes Minji is a serious team leader but during meetings she does crack a joke here and there but today that isn't the case at all. Y/N can tell that something happened.

"Meeting is done, you can all leave." Minji sighed and left the room immediately.

"What's up with her? She seems to be in a bad mood." Jihyo asked.

"She's been like this since yesterday. Don't mind her." Sua told them. She's probably the only one that knows what happened. 

"Ah she forgot to take these files with her. Aren't these very important?" Mingyu showed the files on the table.

"I'll take them to her." Sua volunteered. Since Minji is in a bad mood today she doubts anyone else would want to get near her.

"No, let me take them to her." Y/N interrupted.

"I don't know if that's a good idea." Sua shook her head.

"Please sunbaenim. I think I need to talk to her." 

"Okay but be careful. She's fragile right now." Sua agreed and handed Y/N the files.

Y/N took the files and went to Minji's office. She knocked on the door but no one answered so she just opened it and entered.

"I didn't tell you to come in, so why are you opening the door?" Minji asked.

"You forgot these files." Y/N put them on the table in front of the team leader after closing the door. "Since they're quite important I thought you needed them. I'm sure you would have scolded us if we didn't bring them to you."

"Thank you. You can go now." 

"Are you okay?" Y/N asked. "I know this isn't the place to talk about this but... you're acting weird."

"Y/N please... Let's talk another time." Minji stood up and went to arrange some files behind her.

"I've known you for a long time and you may be able to mislead other people but you can't mislead me. Do you remember what I told you when we had broken up? I told you that no matter what happens between us, I will always be there when you need me. You don't even have to tell me when you need me because I can tell. I just know you need me right now." Y/N said and approached her ex-girlfriend. "I know you well enough that you're struggling with something right now and that's why you're in such a bad mood." Y/N took the files from Minji's hands and made her face her. "I know this is your coping mechanism."

Minji just stared at Y/N's face and tears welled up in her eyes. She will burst out crying if Y/N keeps doing this so she turned around and went to sit on the couch.

"Please leave, Y/N. Please." She said and hid her face with her hands. Y/N didn't leave of course, instead she went to sit next to Minji and pulled her into a hug. Once she did that, Minji burst out crying. 

"I know you don't want to tell me what's wrong and you don't have to. Just know that I'm here for you and I will always stay by your side. You don't have to keep it in. Just let it all out." Y/N caressed her and Minji only cried more. Minji is an emotionally very strong woman. She does't get hurt easily and knows how to deal with her pain very well but at times the pain just gets too much and this will be the outcome.
