The tight embrace lasted for what felt like an eternity. Remis' eyes darted around the room like fireworks exploding in one direction then another as he surveyed the room for a way out. Lucius' arms were shaking, his muscles tense as he felt the warmth of the youth pervade his skin, the scent of his smooth hair encompassing him in an intoxicating bubble.

"Ye-yeah, thanks." Remis laughed awkwardly, his arms fumbling by his sides as he slowly and carefully placed the tome he was reading on the floor and shifting his feet to prepare to run. The crown prince, unbeknownst to Remis' evading and avoiding intentions, remained quiet like a mouse as he savored the feeling of his aide in his arms.

He felt his heart pounding faster than ever the longer Remis allowed him to hold him. A feeling of ecstasy spread from his heart into every vein, every pore, every nerve. He stole nervous glances at the youth's expression, his lips tightly pursed as he struggled to contain the overwhelming feelings within him.

He truly was in love with him. He knew it, and he felt it resound deeply in his heart every second he thought about it. He thought about the blooming future in front of him, with the youth stationed by his side.

He wasn't rejected by the hug. Maybe, just maybe, Remis would let him do more...? Lucius gulped. A shiver of glee ran down his spine from expectation as he hurriedly shook his head, telling himself to get rid of these thoughts.

Lucius thought back to that one kiss they shared in the palace. Remis, flustered and confused, and Lucius, filled with an overwhelming emotion he thought was induced by magic. It turns out, all this time, he was just dense. If only he figured out his feelings sooner. Then maybe they would've already been...

"Well, gotta go!" Before Lucius could finish his train of thought, Remis practically jumped out of his seat and slid away from Lucius' hold so quickly his mind couldn't keep up.

Remis' steps landed swiftly on the aching wood beneath him. He left behind the mountains of books left strewn about his reading spot and fixed his eyes on the entrance of the library. With a pace as fast as a cheetah, he dashed out of the library in a flurry, descending the stairs and jumping out of the two doors.

Lucius' eyes were dumbstruck as he saw the vain spectacle unfold in front of him. A pang of hurt zipped through him as he watched the youth's very clear attempt at avoiding him. However, this lasted for just a moment before he automatically followed suit, chasing after his fleeting figure with eyes blazing.

The chase lasted far longer than expected. When Remis took a quick glance behind him to see if he was in the clear, he instead found a blonde prince a head taller than him. He was barely running, unlike Remis, his long legs making extended strides with little effort. Remis' heart was thundering in his chest as he struggled to maintain what fast pace his smaller figure would allow him.

It was completely unlike Lucius to do this. His usually easy-to-read yet standoffish demeanor, which was caused by his embarrassment of being found caring, was nowhere to be seen as he thundered, "Remis, stop!"

The prince's mood soured the longer the chase lasted. His entire face was tense as he watched the person he just confessed to run for the hills. A trace of worry was left in his soul as he watched the just-injured person exert himself so heavily.

By the time they arrived at the dormitory and Remis was scurrying up the stairs, Lucius could already see his beet-red face, hot from the long run he was unaccustomed to. His heart swelled with confused vexation. Why was Remis exerting himself like this?

Was it really all just to avoid him?

Remis skidded to a stop, his eyes darting to his dormitory door in a snap as he pressed one hand to the door's polished wood, his disordered mind's gears grinding as he struggled to unlock the magical lock. His other hand hovered impatiently over the handle. Once he heard the click, his hand practically swung down against the handle as he burst back into the room, slamming the door shut behind him.

Lucius' brows furrowed as he grabbed the handle and twisted it, nearly breaking it off the door's mount. When he saw the handle cleanly turning to his force, he couldn't help but crack a small, helpless smile. Of course he forgot to lock it.

Bolting into the room, he didn't take a step before he found the flushed panting Remis on the floor, his chest heaving as he breathed in great gulps of air in exhaustion. That helpless feeling spread and a worry surfaced in his heart, but the longer he felt these loving feelings bud, the more his annoyance and heartache peaked.

While he couldn't contain his eagerness to even see Remis' minute mannerisms, Remis ran away as soon as he saw his face?

He reached down and pulled the tired black-haired youth by the wrist like a ragdoll, twisting his arms around Remis' supple waist, feeling the heaving breaths and the hot skin enclosed within him.

He felt like his chest was stifled by a feeling of despondency. Paired with the long chase, his chest heaved with breathlessness. "Remis... please, can you please... just stop running from me?" He pleaded. His eyes carefully surveyed Remis' expression, twisting incomprehensibly to his plea instead of softening. He soon started to struggle inside the prince's arms, showing his unwillingness.

"You– I'll call workplace harassment on you! Let go of me!" He said, grunting.

Lucius' eyes furrowed, his jaw working and his expression quickly turning dark as Remis continued to struggle. "I'm the crown prince. You can't threaten me, so stop struggling."

He saw Remis' face twist further and his struggle quiet down after those words, instead assuming a lifeless state and pretending like he was no longer living. Seeing the black head of hair quieting down, Lucius' eyes had a trace of appeasement in them. He silently loosened his hold, just a bit, his heart happy.

He felt a trace of giddy bashfulness as he bit his lips, his eyes shifting restlessly around the room. Then, with a leap of faith, he carefully rested his chin on the crown of the youth's hair. The familiar yet heart-attacking scent of Remis quickly enveloped him and his heart went into overdrive in a second as he gulped with tension.

He was never able to do this before. It was partly himself, confused as to why these strange wishes continued to resound in his heart whenever Remis was around. So instead of facing those emotions, in every situation, he would assume this mask of indifference or annoyance.

"Now... could you please explain why you're avoiding me?"

----

Remis stayed absolutely silent, but inwardly, his mind was spiraling as he racked his brains for a way out. Why am I avoiding you? Well, maybe it's because you confessed to me when you thought I was asleep but I really wasn't! It's that simple, but only I can't tell you, so what do I say? What can I say? What should I say to get out of this precarious situation?

No, no, keep calm. Let's look at the bright side, at least that... perverted roommate isn't here, he breathed, calming one factor in the situation, or else I'd really drop dead.

He bit the inside of his cheek, his muscles restless as his mind continued spinning in circles. "I-I just..." Remis stuttered out, breaking the pervading silence. Lucius barked out an incredulous laugh as he saw the wheels turn in Remis' brain. Remis' heart jumped and he bit the bullet, simply blurting out whatever came to mind to prevent Lucius from somehow finding the crumbs and realizing the true reason. "It was because my roommate was naked and I thought you were him! And I saw his thing and, I don't know, I freaked, you know? I went to the library, and then you took me by surprise by hugging me, and I didn't see your face, my prince, you see, so I-I just ran back to the dorm? You- um, you were chasing me but again, I didn't know it was you! I thought it was him! And I just kept running because I didn't want to see his face! I couldn't face him. Actually, now that I think about it, um–"

"He was naked?" Lucius interrupted, his voice seething low. "You saw his 'thing'?"

Remi's mouth quickly clamped shut.

Lucius' heart flared. "What... exactly happened, Remis?"
